Checking in
Hello, everyone. After about 2 year break decided to check in on this platform. My dad is 88 now and has had Parkinson's for about 9 years. I was doing a lot of research when he got sick to find a magic cure/help for his condition. Started with Mucuna, which never helped with tremors, and B vitamin therapy

Fava Beans for Parkinson's?
This is a very good post that discusses the use of Fava Beans as a source of Levodopa and as a natural addition or adjunct to Sinemet. https://www.scienzavegetariana.it/nutrizione/favabeans.html

Are there common side-effects to Rytary withdrawal?
I've been on Rytary for 2 years. Before that I had been on Sinemet for 4 years. I quit taking Rytary about a month ago. My only side effect seems to be insomnia. Maybe insomnia is the wrong word. Eventually I get tired and can sleep for a few hours. But I doubt it adds up to 8 hours over

Has anybody found a way to reduce dyskinesia without Amantadine?
For many years, sinemet worked fine for me, but now I'm one of those people who gets dyskinesia from it. I've tried different combinations of amantadine and GoCovri (extended release). but it doesn't have much effect. So I take as little Sinemet as I can get away with. First dose at noon. There are

Auditory hallucinations
Hello, My mum was diagnosed in Feb 21 with Parkinson’s. She has recently been experiencing distressing crashing sounds (usually when she wakes, but not always). I appreciate this is probably Parkinson’s related, and would like to hear from anyone else suffering a similar experience. She has been on

"Off periods"
My only symptom was lack of convergence. That means my eyes can't focus on one thing. The eyes send two images to the brain. It may have been my earliest symptom. Late in races I'd begin to see the trail in front of me and also bushes or weeds to the left of the trail. When it was bothersome

Does anyone know what the HIGH DOSE in high dose thiamine means?
I have been following the medications course, not the vitamin/naturaremedy one for five years Suddenly, for no real reason I wondered if HDT might do even better than Sinemet for my slightly-worsening forward/backward balance problems. I have been on two and a half 25/100 three times a day for 3-

Sinemet not working.
I was diagnosed in 2021 and have been taking this and doing well. I'm up to 1 1/2 tabs(25-100) 5 x a day. In the last few weeks, I get b anxious, lightheaded and weak about 15 minutes after taking my meds. It completely shuts me down . I'm waiting on my neurologist for directions. One was to switch

Just diagnosed
Hello My husband has just been diagnosed with Parkinsons after lots of other ongoing health problems. He is 74 and his health has been deteriorating for the last 7 years. I did suspect Parkinsons in the beginning but he has had so many other issues that it has been difficult to diagnose and got lost

When does Opicapone work?
Hi! For those who are taking Opicapone, how many days it needs for it to start to work? I started 2 nights ago at 11pm after 400 mg di Sinemet during the day, but it is like to eat a candy: nothing happens 🫥

Grief or PD?
I was diagnosed with PD in 2018 at the age of 49. My neurologist prescribed Sinemet (2 pills 3x a day). My symptoms were well-managed and most people wouldn't have a clue that I have PD. The dexterity in my right hand and slow movement were my symptoms. Fast forward to May 2021. My wife was diagnosed

Levodopa vs Other Parkinson medicines against Fatigue
Does Sinemet does a good job in improving fatigue compared to other Parkinson's medications? Case history: My mom, 58 years old was diagnosed with Parkinson's two years back. Her major symptom is Fatigue and drug induced dystonia. Then the neurologist prescribed the following set of tablets: Sinemet

vascular Parkinsonism
I just learned of this condition which is similar but apparently district from PD. This condition apparently evolves more from small strokes and primarily impacts balance and gait and a weakling of the lower body. It also does not react to normal PD medication (ie. Sinemet, etc). Anyone familiar

Sigh... 😔🥱😒 Hallucinations side effects from meds on top of neck & back pain affecting sleep schedule
This is very frustrating. Before starting any Parkinson meds this year, back pain (spinal stenosis but don't need surgery "do PT", insomnia and frequent urination (was told BPH) were my dad's only health issues. Healthy in every other aspect. Now, 2 months in, he has hallucinations as a side effect
