Coconut Oil, Lauric acid, and Cholesterol
There had been several posts in the past few months discussing benefits of large doses of coconut oil for relieving portions of PD symptoms. One of the issues that has come up from time to time is the question of the impact of taking a large dose of the saturated fat in coconut oil on one's overall health

Does anyone have any reliable information about ZANDOPA?
I have been on Sinemet for six years - 800 mg currently - and now that the s/e are severely impacting on my life I am keen to find a way of reducing it. In particular, the dyskinesias are getting much worse. I can't be prescribed a dopamine agonist because of ICD previously. I have received a 200g

Medical Marijuana...Parkinson's
Marijuana oil..Try it you have nothing to lose but you might be like me and experience better sleep less tremor and a reduction in meds, Sinemet. I ingest a rice size morsel before bedtime and a tiny bit when I take a pill,it works for me.

Is too much Sinemet harmful?
13/11/13. I am now 76 had tremor intensive PD since 2001. Started on Sinemet Feb 2012, 3x100, 5 hr apart, increased to 150 after 9 mo. Started wearing off march 2013 after 1.5 hours. Neuro seems stumped so I have started experimenting. For some reason my mornings are still OK - better than off-time.

Sinemet is not for me and worsened my walking pattern. Caramet (same active ingredients) had a really positive effect.
When I started taking Sinemet a year or two after my diagnosis in 2006, my walking pattern deteriorated further. By chance I was transferred to Caramet which really used to give me a boost and was eventually increased to 2 x 3 tablets per day, Now in 2013 its effectiveness seems to have weakened to

Extended Release Medications
I have read some posts where Extended Release medication forms such as Sinemet CR and Stalevo are being cut in half. These medications are meant to be swallowed whole as cutting them (or chewing them) defeats the purpose of the dose.....a gradual slow release of the active medication so that large "spikes

Does anyone know of any other uses for Sinemet besides Parkinson's or Parkinsonism traits?
I'm a Registered Nurse although I do not have a back ground in neurology. My neurologist put me on Sinemet about two months ago the drug works wonders for me, it takes away my stiff neck and stiff back symptoms most of the time and my tremors stop when I take the medication on time and regularly, my

Is Sinemet And/Or Other Allopathic medications For Parkinson's Disease actually a chemical stressor on the nervous system?
It seems to me that there are a lot of people who are taking medications which stop working or are not helping but then are causing other problems like withdrawal symptoms and other side effects. what do you all think?

anyone with sinemet er tried switching to ropinole?
I am on generic sinemet er 25/100mg 6-7 times a day, every 2 hrs and 40 minutes apart while i am awake. Barely walking and swallowing but higher doses gave severe dyskinesia. Severe nausea and vomiting and dizziness and palpitations and severe shortness of breath but my neuro would not switch! Tried

Has anyone reduced/eliminated their tremor through an entirely nutritional approach?
I have been diagnosed as having 'tremor dominant Parkinson's' which affects both hands, my head and walking when my meds wear off. I am currently taking Sinemet and mucuna pruriens, but want to adopt a nutritional approach to reduce/eliminate my tremors and hopefully the medications,

Work
I retired more than a year ago after 38 years in social work. I was 60 at the time of retirement. When I was diagnosed four years ago I was sure I would not need to take the medicine they wanted me to take. I was also sure I was tough enough to keep working. I lasted about six months before I was

Anyone experience a gout flare-up when using Sinemet 25/100?
I had gout a few years ago and this is my first flare-up since. I started on Sinemet just about a month ago, have had several side effects, but this is one that bothers me a lot. Very painful. Anyone else have this? Also, I've been more grumpy than usual, dizzy, off balance, weird vivid dreams and headaches
