Hello, everyone. After about 2 year break decided to check in on this platform. My dad is 88 now and has had Parkinson's for about 9 years. I was doing a lot of research when he got sick to find a magic cure/help for his condition. Started with Mucuna, which never helped with tremors, and B vitamin therapy. Right now he is only taking Rytary and Gocovri. His Parkinson's is tremor-dominant. Never found anything that works for tremors. Yesterday I took him to a new neurologist. He is a movement specialist doctor (spent almost 5 hours on this trip because the doctor was very far away). The doctor told us that for people his age the only 2 medications recommended are Sinemet (which my dad could never tolerate because of the chest pain) and Rytary. He told my dad to stop taking Gocovri and increase Rytary in hopes of controlling tremors a little better. We were told that Gocovri does nothing for tremors. Will try. I also got an email for some reason today (I was unsubscribed from HealthUnlocked for a while) about Tass gloves. I have not been keeping in touch with the latest research, but I see that this is something similar to Gyro gloves they were working on about 5-6 years ago. Unfortunately, Gyro gloves never became a real thing. I tried putting my dad's name for trials a long time ago through the company's website and contacting them about the product, but the only reply I ever got was that they are working on this product. Just checking in if there is anything new people discovered to help with tremors.

Rytary/Sinemet/mucuna all have the same active ingredient - levodopa. (Rytary/Sinemet also contain carbidopa)

You might talk to your father's doctor about perhaps trying propranolol for the tremor. Hopefully it is an option at this age.

try inderal (propranolol) beta blockers. They are the only drug that helps my tremor (and i do have Parkinson’s). Also try eating like a diabetic, it seems to calm my symptoms

How is your dad doing? Is he independent? In good spirits? Able to walk? You are great for being there for him! For myself Carbidopa/Levopdopa plus Entacapone every four hours is good for 2-3 hours of relief. Without Entacapone I had 1 hour of relief.

My dad is good for now, just very weak.

Hi does the Entacapone just extend the general benefit of Levodopa for you, or does it help relieve your leg/ foot pain as well?

I don’t know the science. But before Entacapone I received only one hour of relief each time i took C/L . Now when I take C/L 2 tabs with Entacapone 1 tab, I get 2 hours of relief. By relief I mean that painful toe curling is gone , dizziness is reduced, saliva production is normal constipation is reduced. Throbbing vibrating hip nerve (sciatic?) settles down, leg stiffening reduced, gait improves.

Thanks that’s helpful. I’ve been offered Entacapone and seem to have similar issues. Finally, how often to you take L/C, what intervals?

Not sure but I’m guessing that Entacapone does not have pain relieving qualities on its own.
