Azilect - When do you take it?
My mom was taking azilect with her second dose of sinemet then she switched to rytary and took it with her first dose of rytary. Now she is back on sinemet (rytary side effects were too much) and taking azilect with second sinemet dose but that leads to lots of dyskinesia about 3 hours later. Thinking

Sinemet and Xadago
My mom was on sinemet (25/100) 4 times a say with azilect up till September 2020. She switched to rytary 36/145 4x a day. By October, her blood pressure was very low so we added midrodine. We also switched from azilect to xadago but after 2 weeks she had more falls so we switched back to azilect. November

Sinemet Nausea and Fatigue
I started Sinemet IR (25/100) on Jan. 16, 1/2 pill 3x/day. I was supposed to increase to 1 pill 3x/day after a week, but I've only managed a whole pill 3 mornings this week. I'm avoiding protein an hour before and after, so I've tried taking it with a banana, veggies, a couple of crackers, but I get

Sinemet and eye discomfort?
I just started Sinemet on Saturday (1/16/21). I have only taken supplements up to this point (diagnosed 8/2018, earliest symptoms began in '15-'16). I take no other Rx or OTC medications. I've taken B1/HDT since 11/2018. I decided to start meds for two reasons. Firstly, I hope to eventually have FUS-PTT

Immediate-Release Versus Controlled-Released Carbidopa-Levodopa
The question of immediate release versus controlled-release carbidopa levodopa is a frequent topic here, so it is high time to have a post specifically addressing this issue. Chart source: https://www.ingentaconnect.com/contentone/ben/ccp/2007/00000002/00000003/art00006?crawler=true With reference

Sinemet only?
Is it out of the ordinary for a PWP to only be taking sinemet as I’ve done since my dx in 2008? I still take just 3 pills a day. Reading other’s stories confuses me, why some people have to take multiple medications while others, not so much. I do take different supplements and eat really well, live

How common are olfactory hallucinations--AKA phantosmia-- in PD?
I had an MRI last week. I saw the neuro yesterday for the results. He said the MRI showed no change for the past three years. Which means no active lesions in the brain. He said come back in a year. Before the PD diagnosis I'd been diagnosed with MS. For two years I had monthly IV infusions

Niacin and Butyrate: Nutraceuticals Targeting Dysbiosis and Intestinal Permeability in Parkinson’s Disease
Niacin PD patients are found to have significantly decreased niacin levels compared to age-matched healthy controls [52]. Manganese?
I've always wondered about the PD diagnosis because I don't respond to Sinemet. So what else might be involved? For the past 30 years my hobby has been restoring 1960s-era VWs. Which involved a lot of welding using my cheap flux wire mig welder. And never using a mask. Some of the early

Dystonia from Mirapex
Has anyone else gotten Dystonia after taking Mirapex. I started on Mirapex, along with Lexapro and Klonapin a year ago. As well as sinemet which I was already on. Since adding the Mirapex and other drugs I started getting Dystonia, in my toes at first, then ankle, then whole food and lower leg. Now

Sinemet vs Rytary
In my 5th year and thus far, I’ve been taking Mucuna, azilect and Neupro patch still doing well with slow progression with symptoms only on the left side. I exercise daily work full-time and lead a normal life. I have no off time, my symptoms are pretty much the same all the time. My main complaint

Avoid levodopa phobia
I was reading Simon’s latest article about the PD drug development pipeline, which is a good read anyway - https://scienceofparkinsons.com/2020/12/02/drug-pipeline/ - and watched this video from Dr Kelly Mills of Johns Hopkins University about disease-modifying vs symptomatic therapy - https://youtu.be

How does everyone differentiate between RLS symptoms, vs. augmentation from one of your meds vs. withdrawal symptoms
I have been dealing with RLS for 20 years and the past year has been by far the worst with significant escalation of the disease. I have experienced augmentation from Mirapex and then severe withdrawal due to very bad advice from my neurologist. I was then put onto Neupro patches at 2mg and a week
