Sinemet only?

Is it out of the ordinary for a PWP to only be taking sinemet as I’ve done since my dx in 2008? I still take just 3 pills a day. Reading other’s stories confuses me, why some people have to take multiple medications while others, not so much. I do take different supplements and eat really well, live a clean lifestyle, maybe that has something to do with it. Idk. Will I need more medication as time goes by? Thanks

"Why?" Clean living and good luck. We should all anticipate the progression continuing, but in your case, not so much. Count your blessings.

Everyone is different. I am glad you are stable on your current meds. Stay active and keep your appointments so your MDS can keep track of your progress.

Researchers should study people like you in detail, to see if any similarities exist in lifestyle, diet, medication regime etc. I am sure there must be something to be learned. Or is it just random luck? Well done anyway!

My hubby has had PD for at least 8 hrs and takes just 2 Sinemet a day, plus Selegeline sometimes which helps feeling shaky inside and hallucinations but will increase balance problems. He has fallen several times. We miss our PD group. He went to ER after falling when loading dishwasher in Nov. He doesn’t remember any of it. Both reg. And PD Drs. say it couldn’t be caused by Sel. Or is it Res.? Too low a dose but I still think it caused it. All his tests done in ER like Ct. scan were normal. I suggested taking Sinemet in morning instead of night and it seems that helped hallucinations which he realizes when they happen. . He and I take vitamins but not a lot. I have Fibro. Depression and intense fatigue. I’ve wondered if our ages, mid 70’s,are a factor. Yes, we should exercise but we can hardly get to meals in the Senior apts we live in, and I shop sometimes. Kids may be fixing up our house soon. Now I wonder if we just should sell it. We opted out of Covid vaccinations for fear it’d complicate the PD. Now I wonder about that. True or not? Our housing group gets it this Sat. And we could change our mind. Our Pastor, 58, died of complications of Covid last week. Some of our adult grandkids have had it and are fine...but it was rougher on a couple of in-laws. I’d say just keep taking PD as you are. We have a friend here who’s had it longer and his legs are constantly moving ...Deskenesis....and he takes 4 a day. It’s confusing.

My wife who is being treated for Parkinson's and I, will wait until the 2 year trial of the vaccines is over.

The trial of the vaccines were not tried on varies people and as far as my research

has shown, it wasnt trialled

on people taken medicine for certain conditions (hence the 2 year trial period)

I am not a antivaxer, if all goes well we shall get it.

Dear Ca1208 - What is your diet like? Do you exercise and if so what do you do? I am debating starting Sinemet and would love to be like you having a single med.
