Medichecks Result and a warning about testing & HRT
Apologies for the long post (my first) and thank you if you manage to get to the end of it. Bit of history first (there's more in my bio), after 7 years of being bedbound with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, I was finally prescribed combination T3/T4 in 2018. I hadn't had my bloods checked since 2019

my List of References recommending GP's keep TSH lower in range : feel free to add any others you have in replies.
These references all recommend GP's keep TSH between 0.4/ 0.5 and 2/2.5 in patients on levo. Some were taken directly from GP update sources ,one was written specifically for GP's by Specialist registrars in cardiology and endocrinology , and one is from the 2023 consensus statement from leading endocrinologists

Problems with podiatry insoles?
Hi All, a few weeks ago I managed to get podiatrist appointment due to the problems with my left foot (painful metatarsals, collapsed arch and toes spreading, big toe joint fused). I was really grateful to have a thorough examination and come away with some insoles which I really hoped would help. I

perimenopause please help
Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I'm nearly 42 and pretty convinced I'm perimenopausal. Can this be detected by having a blood test? My g.p said they just go by symptoms. Has anyone around my age group been prescribed hrt?

Can you flare with OA
It's an odd question but I saw a nurse after following phone call for support over 3 weeks ago. Not good when you are in Alot of pain. I'm told I have OA in my right knee. Confirmed by Xrays taken over 3 years ago. GP prescribed steroids and pain reduced within a couple of days. So i would say the

Bio-Identical Estrogen Safety
I miss my estrogen. I have osteopenia and I'm post menopausal. At the age of 64, is it safe for me to take bio-identical hormones for my bones? I have been without synthetic HRT for about two years and my bones are falling apart. Are there any studies on bio-identical HRT?

New Doctor/central hypo
Hello everyone! I haven't posted my own stuff for a while now. What do you all think of this situation: The new doctor who took over the practice ordered the tests last week. At our first in person appointment I explained to her the my hypothyroidism is not because my thyroid but my pituitary.

Best HRT options after total hysterectomy
Hi, hope you’re all having a good day 🤗 After having a total hysterectomy and ovaries removed, I’ve been on Tibalone for a few years now, it seemed to be working, I wasn’t having too many menopause symptoms, but for the last 6 months it has got so bad, I have no energy, low mood, really bad brain fog

I had a knee replacement a year ago. It went well, except my doctor took me off my Tramadol, 100 mg/3 per day, while keeping me on my 100 mg, 3x/day Pregabalin—it works well together. Instead he had me on 5 mg of Oxycodone every 4 hours. He thought the Oxycodone would an effective substitute for the

feeling weird just started levo
I started 50 mcg levothyroxine 3 days ago, felt very energetic within an hour of taking it, bit hyper but manageable and felt so positive. Took advice from this forum to split the dose and that helped but last night I wasn’t able to sleep, tense muscles sensation of palpitations and just couldn’t drop

Ignorance
Slight rant but more despair at the ignorance of ones, and lack of desire for them to educate themselves before making assertive statements about treatment. Let me briefly explain, on Saturday I went to a family gathering, long time since everyone together. Included my sister and family from Australia

Pain L/H/S when lying in bed
Both showed mild OA and Rheumy said it was unlikely I would need a hip
replacement
as the OA was in the part joining the hip
joint
. Physiotherapist checked me over 3 weeks ago, not bursitis and plenty of movement in left hip and I felt no pain when she pulled me this way and that.

Why does improvement of symptoms seem to matter so little when treating hypothyroidism?
Quite a wordy title (and a lengthy post - sorry!), but it's something that has been bothering me ever since I passed the first 6 months post-TT, and even more so now, following @waveylines' post from earlier this week concerning the NHS' newly reiterated views on NDT (thank you for making such an informative
