knee surgery and Atrial Fibrillation
hello, it looks like I’m in need of a knee replacement and wondered if anyone with A Fib has experience of this. I’m aware it would be carried out with a spinal block rather than a general anaesthetic, but has anyone had any problems post surgery? Thanks!

Rant!
I had possibly the worst GP appointment today in my life. His English was not good, combined with a lisp, it was virtually impossible to understand his questions. I finally sussed out that "blith" was blood. I had the results back from some blood work at a hospital (took 50 days to get the results

Have had a tkr 7 weeks ago and saw my othopaedic consultant few days ago who said he would ask GP to give a short dose of steroids (he thought symptoms maybe from using crutches) Has anyone had short dose

Hypothyroidism and infertility
Hi. I was wondering if there is a connection between hypothyroidism and low lh FSH and estrogen/ progesterone/testosterone? My GP is extremely unhelpful at explaining these things to me, my periods have stopped and my thyroid levels are low alongside my female hormones. Is there a connection as in

Smartway pharmacy and T3
Well I finally had some joy from a pharmacy on the list on here. The Isle of Wight can only get it but it's too expensive so I tried Smartway. I emailed and rang a couple of others from the list but no reply . Smartway rang me back and the pharmacist was really lovely. He told me the cheapest way of

Hello, I am well over a year on monthly Zoladex injections, and the past few months I have been experiencing some severe joint pain in both hands and right hip/pelvis. I had recently moved house so put it down to the lifting etc but it has seem to have persisted and got far worse. There are times

Is there a link between Avascular Necrosis and Hypothyroidism?
Hi everyone I have had left hip pain since May which has gradually worsened and had X-rays a couple of months ago. My consultant could not find much evidence of arthritic hip and sent me for an MRI scan. I saw him last week for the results and he said there was clear evidence of Avascular Necrosis

Newly diagnosed - what a shock!
I’m only six weeks into treatment - levothyroxine at 50mcg. First blood test showed ‘borderline’ hypothyroidism so GP ordered a follow up two months later. I’d had hip replacement surgery a few months before and GP thought this might have knocked things out of kilter. I was then feeling less fatigued

Different ALC numbers
So today I went for a pre admission appointment for my knee replacement. Had to have a CBC for that and my Gp had also ordered one . So they were both done on the same draw. For one the result was ALC was 90.4 and for the other 97.5. All other numbers were within the normal range. Just wondering how

It's me again!!!
I had the Dutch cortisol test done. Results were a worry. Basically my HPA-AXIS needs support due to high levels of nightime free cortisol and cortisone. My DHEA-S is low in range too. Spoke to my doctor who wasn't bloody interested as usual so resorted to Google. From your previous recommendations

itchy red, warm scalp. Also psoriatic or rheumatoid if you are sero-negative?
Hi guys I'm sero-negative. My big joints were affected first - had right knee replacement and hip replacement six months later aged 54 and although initially recovered well from knee replacement - couldn't sit to stand from chair, loo etc and couldn't get of crutches. Had lots of symptoms but still

Hrt and asthma - any problems?
Hi, I have moderate asthma with daily naughty mucus. The mucus is worsened by my rhinitis. The doctor wants me to start using oestrogen gel as my peri menopause symptoms have become nasty. Does anyone have any experience of the estradiol transdermal gel and asthma? I'm worried that it will worsen my

Advice on Results Please
Hello, I've been trying to find my sweet spot since starting HRT and discovering I was undermedicated. I've just had my latest test results back although I keep having issues with the blood samples for Medichecks so some tests have been redone and other are missing. Anyone else have issues with this

Knee replacement
I have ET and am concerned about getting knee replacement surgery and the chance of blood clots. I read that the average blood loss is 800 ml. Has anyone gotten this surgery and how did it go?

T4/T3 combo reducing Levo
I worked my way up to 112mcg of Levo and finally added 10mcg of T3. After the introduction of T3 my T4 levels(around 40% in range) didn't change much after going up to 112mcg daily and my overall thyroxine levels came down further. I did try to increase to alternating days with 125/112mcg of Levo but

HRT patches, how to make them stick!
Does anyone have any tips as to where best location for HRT patches to go? My GP says anywhere below the waist, so it’s been put (first time today) just above pubic area, but it seems to wrinkle and fold, especially when I sit down, presumably reducing its effectiveness. Tips welcome for a first time
