How painful should a flare get?
I am quite new to RA and seem on an even keel most of the time but get occasional sharp flares that leave me very weak. Last weekend I had a serious flare in my left shoulder, radiating to chest cavity. It began, as they usually do with me, during the night, and by 3am I was passing out with the extreme

Propylthiouracil - Safety of long term use.
I have been taking Propylthiouracil for a year now. I have been advised that I should now consider RAI or surgery as my consultant does not advise the continued long term use of medication in someone of my age (56). Does anyone have any experience of taking the medication long term? FT3 - 6.8 (3.1-

Back on levothyroxine, dose upped
And is it safe to be taking things with selenium and
iodine
in them too? Even in small amounts. The GP thinks I was taking my levo all along and my requirements have changed, which is why he upped it.

IBS back pain and pain killers
When my. IBS has flares up it aggravates my back problems. I used to manage the back pain with pain killers and anti inflamatories. I think the latter are why IBS got bad. I am now in extreme pain and paracetamol is not doing mu h on its own. Codeine usually leads to constipation which also affects

Banging noise in ears
Just a brief summary, was overactive had
iodine
treatment been on levothyroxine treatment since. Have been bouncing from 100mg to 150mg to try and get a happy medium, have three weeks ago met middle ground at 125mg. I'm now suffering from ringing in my ears and I'm freezing cold all the time.

Advice on results please
I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 2 years ago due to various symptoms and a thyroid nodule. I had RAI and the nodule reduced. I have been hypothyroid since July 2019. Started on 50mg levothyroxine, then upped to 100mg then down to 75mg as I was advised I was almost hyper. In January the nodule returned

Meds for Diverticulitis?
I have been found to have "significant" Diverticulitis which is giving me almost constant pain on left hand side below rib cage but spreads to centre, around back and beyond and is constantly waking me in the middle of the night as it is worse when laid on my back and I simply can't sleep.on my left

For info: Just had a big rant on government survey on women's health
People should also not be offered radioactive
iodine
treatment without fully understanding what else they could do to reduce their autoimmune response, and potentially support a healthy functioning thyroid. They should also be made aware of the cancer implications of having RAI treatment.

Pain
Hi I’m under investigation for PCOS. I’ve been put on the progesterone only pill so I’ve stopped bleeding, however I’m still getting agonising pain in my groin and the worst cramping. Has anyone else had this? Is there anything other than paracetamol and codeine that I can take? (Can’t take anti inflammatory

Hopefully no more injections 😃
I would be climbing the walls with pain all night after, we tried omitting
iodine
but made no difference. I often came to this site for advice which helped me so much with your kind comments. I decided that I would embark on losing some weight and getting fitter as this may have contributed.

Getting stronger
Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks I have been home. I have had a fantastic follow up by a cardiac nurse, who gave me a right bollocking. Firstly for doing too much walking and for not taking the right amount of pain killers. I am now doing 2x15 min walks and started the full paracetamol and codeine dosage.

More glycol trade names
My husband used some
iodine
solution.... I broke out like crazy after coming in contact with a single drop of it. I checked the label and it had something suspish: "Makon 8." What is that, I ask? Here is what I found. Polyethylene glycol ether.
