Advice on results please

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 2 years ago due to various symptoms and a thyroid nodule. I had RAI and the nodule reduced. I have been hypothyroid since July 2019. Started on 50mg levothyroxine, then upped to 100mg then down to 75mg as I was advised I was almost hyper. In January the nodule returned, it feels like I have something stuck in my throat, it can be painful as well as having a sore throat and the symptoms such a fatigue, aches and pains worsened considerably. My endocrinologist advises that the symptoms are not related to the nodule. The nodule is likely benign but they say I can have surgery.

Recent test results combination of GP and Endocrinologist.

TSH was 2.6 mlU/L (0.3 -4.5).

Free T4 18.1 (10 -22)

Free T3 3.9 (3.1 - 6.8).

Ferritin level 80ng/ml (12-250)

Vitamin B12 563 ng/L (150-1000)

Folate (B-C) 8.8 ug (2.0 -18.8)

Vitamin D 118 nmol/L (>50)

Edwards our stories are very similar. I had RAI in 2015 and after years of results similar to yours I was given a trial of T3 being added to levo. 2 years on this has taken care of many of my symptoms. However the lump in throat and sore throat remains along with voice loss. If I do nothing it is bearable but the more I physically do the worse it gets. I am convinced that it is the damaged, enlarged thyroid trying to pump out hormones in response to activity and becoming inflamed as a result.Like you the endo says not my department. Am waiting on ENT appt.

You could try an increase in levo to bring TSH down and increase ft4. There is room to do that. However I think that in the long run you would benefit from combo therapy. If having tried combo for at least a year, you still have problems then I would look to that nodule .
