Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks I have been home. I have had a fantastic follow up by a cardiac nurse, who gave me a right bollocking. Firstly for doing too much walking and for not taking the right amount of pain killers. I am now doing 2x15 min walks and started the full paracetamol and codeine dosage. I am now able to do my chest exercises with hardly any discomfort which means I do them properly. From Monday I will slowly start to reduce the pain killers. I am increasing my walks by 5 minutes every Monday. I am more comfortable in bed now as I can get comfortable on my sides and I am sleeping longer. I am doing small jobs around my apartment,it’s surprising how satisfying it is to accomplish a small task. I am doing coughing and breathing exercises 3 times a day and the result of that is I can take the deepest breaths, been a while since I could do that. The best thing is that my heart is,it’s hard to explain but I suppose the best way is to say I don’t think about it as it doing what it’s supposed to do. Before I left hospital I had an echo done and there on the screen was a perfectly workin valve

Fantastic- seems as if you’re doing very well and making good progress but do remember to ‘listen’ to your body and rest when you need to as well!
Best wishes,
Sarah
Morning,
Good to read your post you are doing so well.
Aren’t our medical teams fantastic? We are the lucky ones.
Have a great weekend.
Best wishes Pauline
Hi carluke. Great to hear you are doing so well and in such a positive frame of mind. Doing what we are told is a big part of getting better! Take care x
Great update, thank-you! Especially like the way you're being so sensible about only adding five minutes per week to your walking programme.
So glad to hear that you’re doing well. You needed that little telling off!
The Hearties ❤️ all said take the painkillers and take it easy .
I know - difficult isn’t it? We all want to run before we can walk.
Best wishes and do take care of yourself.
❤️Maisie❤️
Hi Carluke, so glad all is well after the cardiac nurse had words with you 😂, keep behaving yourself you’ll soon be running, wishing you all the best 😊
Good morning. Great you feel so well. Keep it up. I'm 7 months post double bypass and I feel good. Must increase my exercise but arthritis in my foot has hampered me a lot. Take care x x
Well now you have been told eh!! Baby steps become toddler step then bigger more adult steps - you cannot rush it!! But sounds like life is getting better every day - so glad to hear that.
Great news indeed. I found that my body would tell me how much exercise I could do. Having goals is essential and adding 5 min each Monday sounds ideal. Great to see you are keeping so positive. Onwards and upwards!
The best news, Carluke. Well done that nurse for taking you on!! Well done you as well, Your positive post is a great help for those of us still near the beginning of our hearty journey. Best wishes for continuing progress.
Great news to hear your doing so well , keep it up 😀
Yes, isn't it amazing @Caraluke that that they can replace a part of your heart and yet so quickly you can so easily forget it happened as it just seems to work like nothing had happened in so many ways!
