I have been found to have "significant" Diverticulitis which is giving me almost constant pain on left hand side below rib cage but spreads to centre, around back and beyond and is constantly waking me in the middle of the night as it is worse when laid on my back and I simply can't sleep.on my left hand side. I'm taking codeine but this has minimal effect. Aside from diet and lifestyle changes, are there any meds, prescribed or otherwise, that help with this condition?
Thanks in advance

Hi, I have had diverticular disease for a number of years and have the same symptoms as you but not all of the time. I have a flare up if I eat something I shouldn’t and sometimes for no apparent reason. I have been given alverine citrate and this seems to help when I have a flare up as well as using a heat pad.
I also was woken during the night by pain and gp prescribed a low dose of amitryptline at night and that works.
I don’t take these all of the time just when I have a flare up.
