Severe Tinnitus : hydroxycarbamide vs interferon
Hello everybody, I hope some of you can help me with an answer... I have had PV for over 30 years, JAK2 positive, clopidogrel, flebotomies. Seven years ago I got tinnitus which then was at a very disturbing but livable level: the last month it has increased to a quite unbearable. Since also my hematocrit

Who decides on high risk or not?
Hi all I have seen all the posts and am as confused as most of you to know if I will be receiving a letter or not? I have managed to speak to my haematology team this morning and they have advised me that it’s your local GP who puts together the list with NHSE and the haematology team don’t send out

Hi all These times are very worrying and confusing for us all I am seeing all the chats and coming up with the conclusion that us with a MPN are none the wiser as to us being in the high risk group or not. Some say it seems to depend on your own areas specialists or GP to decide, some seem to think

can corona symptoms be different if on medication?
Hi can you have different symptoms if on medication for ET? I am on interferon and have had a dry throat for the last couple of days but no cough? I am also experiencing a slight pain in the centre of my chest? Does interferon have affects on the virus if contracted? Thanks

A European clinical trial involving some 3,200 people has been launched to test four possible experimental treatments against the coronavirus, AFP reports. The four treatments to be studied are remdesivir, lopinavir and ritonavir in combination, the latter being administered with or without interferon

Updated x2: NAC May Mitigate Coronavirus Severity, also Potential Risks
I wrote about a study indicating that NAC is beneficial in Parkinson's here: https://healthunlocked.com/parkinsonsmovement/posts/133771398/nac-demonstrated-beneficial-in-pd That benefit may have been due to NAC administered by the IV route. The idea that NAC may mitigate coronavirus severity is based

New Patient with ET for 18 years but developed some odd symptoms!
Hi - I am new to the group and have had ET for 18 years. I have been lucky to be able to have 2 healthy children while being treated on pegulated interferon for 9 years but have since developed odd symptoms which they do not know whether is related to the drug or not?!! I have been in and out of GP/Hospital

Diagnosis Update
Thought I’d come on and give an update as not been on here since my initial diagnosis. My ET Jak2 positive was upgraded to Prefibrotic myelofibrosis after having a bone marrow biopsy some months ago. I opted for Peg interferon Alfa and am coping really well on it. Platelets are now around the 290 mark

Coronavirus infection and medication for cardiovascular disease
Given the recent publication in the Lancet medical journal which questions whether the severity of COVID-19 is greater in patients taking ACE inhibitors, please as a matter of urgency could the BHF obtain empirical data from China or Italy to determine whether this is the case. The NNT for ACE inhibitors

Chances of getting ill with or without intervention
Morning Maz. Do you know whether there are any statistics showing risks of having a stroke or heart attack etc with and without treatment other than Aspirin? Also do you need to take Interferon etc for rest of life? Thank you

Nutraceuticals (NAC) have potential for boosting the type 1 interferon response to RNA viruses including influenza and coronavirus
In light of worldwide concern regarding the recent outbreak of a deadly novel strain of coronavirus in China, it is fortuitous that two recent discoveries point the way to effective nutraceutical measures for potentiating the type 1 interferon response to RNA viruses. It is clear that certain nutraceuticals

Is anyone else like WTF?
I’m very recently diagnosed ET with JAK2 mutation having been tested since I had a TIA (side note, had an MI 4yrs ago which may or may not be related). On a twice daily baby aspirin and eliquis, and starting pegasys soon. How life altering was this for you - particularly mentally? I consider myself and
