Who decides on high risk or not?

Hi all

I have seen all the posts and am as confused as most of you to know if I will be receiving a letter or not?

I have managed to speak to my haematology team this morning and they have advised me that it’s your local GP who puts together the list with NHSE and the haematology team don’t send out the letters

I have been told my the team though that they class me as high risk and SHOULD be getting a letter due to having ET and being on interferon

BUT

before I spoke with the haematology team I managed to get through to my local GPs reception and spoke with them trying to get some answers, who said it’s not the GP it’s NHSE who send them out ????

SO WHO KNOWS ??

I’m giving it till Monday and calling the GP to see?

Please all stay safe and be careful

Same here, spoke with my surgery today, and they told me that if anyone was sending a letter it would be the Government, they are a waste of space my practice, no Doctor knows anything about any MPNs, have given them booklets on it that Maz kindly sent me, and the only doctor that took the time to understand it as I am the only patient on their books to have ET has now retired all be it quite young to retire, think she had enough. And as it is my bloods that were done on Wednesday showed that my white platelets had gone up which my Haematologist said, was an indication that there was an infection.

Going to look on the website that Denisep12 put on, as my husband has been going shopping for us I make him put his cloths that he had been wearing into the washing machine as soon as he comes in just to be on the safe side.

All really confusing.

Take care

Jean

We were told the same by our GP yesterday. GP practices are not responsible for determining who is on the list or sending out the letters.

Interesting (though why am I surprised) that different haematology teams are saying different things. And it appears even within those teams individual health professionals are contradicting one another.

Hi

If this helps I got hold of my doctors yesterday and advised them that the haematology team said I should be isolating, then spoke about my condition and meds ( interferon). They agreed I should be on the list and they will send me a covering letter for work and then see how to add me on the NHS list

From what I gather it is the GPs that send off the list, she said they have criteria they look for to put people on the list but as I explained to her it’s not the condition it’s the medication that is why I should be shielding

I would advise to call your GPS if you have not had any letter by tomorrow and mention about your medication

Hope this helps

If you are over 70 there should be no problem, whatever your health situation. Age is easy to check. On Sainsbury's they didn't have an option to tell them about health.
