In light of worldwide concern regarding the recent outbreak of a deadly novel strain of coronavirus in China, it is fortuitous that two recent discoveries point the way to effective nutraceutical measures for potentiating the type 1 interferon response to RNA viruses.
It is clear that certain nutraceuticals (NAC) have antiviral effects in both human and animal studies. Considering that there is no treatment for COVID-19 and treatments for influenza are limited, further studies to test these nutraceuticals as a strategy to help provide relief in those infected with encapsulated RNA viruses.
