I am JAK2 positive ET, 68 years old and am currently taking 1000mg hydrea and asprin, diagnosed 6 months ago. Apart from ET I am reasonably fit and healthy, but I do experience fatigue, itching, pain in my bones, and at the moment mouth ulcers. I am trying to live as normally as possible but obviously

Good mourningly much loved Sisters and Brothers. I hope as always that “YOU” are well, oh much loved Sisters and Brothers is “YOU” in case that was not obvious. Yes, I do love “YOU” all, some more than others but that is because I know them better. Rest assured “YOU” are still loved either way.

Hydroxyurea vs interferon for younger patients
My 18yr old son has JAK2+ ET. Right now he only takes daily 81 aspirin. During my discussion with the hematologist, their drug of choice, if needed, is hydroxyurea. Everything I’ve read and have seen on this board is that interferon (peg) is preferred for the younger ET patients. She said HU is better

HepC, alcohol and drugs
This past week was terribly heart breaking for me. My friend, my best friend for 8 years Royal Whitehead was lost this week. He had had HepC, probably jailhouse tattoo infected close to 30 years ago but refuse the old interferon treatment. When in 2012, the year I joined the Hepatitis C Family and Friends

Got my letter too..!
Looks like the NHS have finally got down to M for MPN as many of us have now had our ‘extremely vulnerable’ letters..! I’m not 100% convinced that well-controlled ET with Pegasys really makes me vulnerable (hoping interferon might actually give some protection!) but will follow the advice anyway - it

I have Covid 19 - I’ m worried about taking my Peg medication.
I thought I’d been so careful, shielding, not allowing friends and family to visit. Have food delivery & detol spraying everything delivered. I had a few Amazon deliveries, again told the delivery man to leave parcels in the summer house & sprayed Detol on the contents, then washed my hands and threw

Injection video
I saw a video on here that Maz posted. It showed a woman injecting interferon. My 18yr old son does not need medicine (other than daily aspirin-ET JAK 2+), but I was telling him about the video. He asked to see it, but now I can’t find it. I’ve done a search with injection, interferon etc. Does anyone
