A European clinical trial involving some 3,200 people has been launched to test four possible experimental treatments against the coronavirus, AFP reports.

The four treatments to be studied are remdesivir, lopinavir and ritonavir in combination, the latter being administered with or without interferon beta and hydroxychloroquine, French public health research body Inserm said in a statement on Sunday.

People taking part in the study will have been hospitalised with COVID-19 infection and are expected to be drawn from Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Spain and the Netherlands, the statement said.

That’s really good news 2greys. From what I read, can’t remember where, very small studies have shown good results.

A cure is what we need ringtones now. Vaccine for the future.

Let’s just hope they get positive results.

I have to agree, get the treatment and cure out there first, to prevent the deaths. Then that will take off the pressure to produce a vaccine, one that will work 100% so we can drive this little beast into extinction so it never rears its ugly head again. After that then sustained work with global co-operation, must start to find a universal coronavirus vaccine, so this can never happen again.

It is about time that a vaccine for the common cold and influenza was found, both of which are caused by coronavirus, as well as SARS and MERS.

I didn't know flu and colds are caused by coronavirus but I did hear that the trials for this vaccine have been able to be sped up because Covid19 is 'just' another strain of SARS etc. So, there are already existing treatments. Hopefully the treatment for this will be developed soon. 🤞
