Iron blood test result - confusing
Hi all, Recent iron test (fasted, no supplements for iron in months): Iron: 36.1 (r5.8 - 34.5) Ferritin: 60.1 (r13 - 150) So my ferritin is a little low, but why then is the iron in my blood over the normal range? Should I be worried? I can't take supplements with such a high iron result? Do I need

Curious, pondering questions about alcohol, PA and B12
I was wondering if anyone might be honest enough to say whether they had a B12 deficiency from alcohol use? It's anonymous here and so no one will know if we share. For example, I have a family member who has been in recovery for many years. And when they went into rehab they were given B12 shots

DIO2 Homozygous CC
I got the test results from Regenerus today and I am homozygous CC which means 'CC infers a lower than average response and that tri-iodothyroxine (T3) perhaps should be considered'. I saw my new Endo for the first time very recently (Saturday) and he increased my levo dose from 93mcg to 100mcg, re-test

How long does intramuscular B12 affect b12 test result?
Is there a length of time that it is not advised to test after having a b12 injection? My dad's last b12 injection was around 18 June. He has been taking some b12 spray since then. Would there be any point in testing for b12 now?

Help with more information on the way B12 reaches cell level please
I fell my brain is 'waking up' On a 'sort out ' of random notes in numerous notepads in the quest of getting well I came across this: whilst B 12is not toxic raising b12 levels with injections csn affect the way its transported from the blood to cells. 1/3 of population needing b12 Injections

IRON results help please
Last year thanks to some good advice from radd and others, I was able to have an iron infusion which really improved my life. A year on, I have had the full iron panel again and my iron has dropped back to 22 from 33, and my ferritin is still way high. My GP has summoned me by email as he has

B12 Patches
The forum has been a true blessing! More information than my GP! My question: Has anyone tried B12 Patches, instead of B12, injections with any success? I am currently injecting B12, 2-3X week, 1ML, subcutaneous., been injecting since Nov. 2021, my GP, is not very knowledgeable about PERNICIOUS

Bread containing iron
Hi I’ve been looking into bread containing iron and bought sourdough bread as I read that this was the best for iron,I’ve just been reading that white and whole meal bread contain iron and that wholemeal flour is higher in iron. The trouble I’m having is I can’t find any wholemeal bread that states

Vitamin results are in, advice please.
I finally managed to get a Ferritin test from GP after latest Medichecks showed it had gone down despite taking 20mg of Solgar Gentle Iron. Well, the NHS one shows it’s gone up to 31 from 24 which is amazing really as I haven’t been taking any iron for two weeks!!! So I’m getting no help from them.

iron update
I posted recently about my iron levels and @radd kindly commented and said I’m technically anaemic despite currently ok haemaglobin but that haemaglobin will fall if I don’t improve my serum iron. I was due to see my GP on Tuesday so waited to see what she would advise. My GP said haemaglobin is

Low iron levels
My doctor has advised me that my iron level is on the low side of the normal range. Should I take iron supplements to boost it as my doctor is happy to leave the levels as they are.

Iron levels
I was reading one of radd's posts explaining the relationship between iron deficiency and palpitations and decided to look at my recent results. I was diagnosed and started Levo on 19th March. Between 18 March and 30 June my serum iron has dropped from 25.9 to 11.5. The Serum TIBC has dropped

B12 levels whilst on B12 injections..
Hi just out of interest, those on 12 weekly B12 injections via the NHS, what should your b12 level be if you randomly had it tested? Mine recently was 700 but that seems quite low despite being on injections. Anyone have any ideas? Seeing doctor tomorrow and asking for more frequent injections etc.

Iron advice for my sister
Though you guys might be the best to ask. What is the best iron supplement going? My sister needed 2 iron infusions before surgery and could only get one due to poor veins. She needs an iron supplement and I said I would get it for her. I want her to have the one that will be most beneficial to her..
