B12 Patches

The forum has been a true blessing! More information than my GP!

My question: Has anyone tried B12 Patches, instead of B12, injections with any success?

I am currently injecting B12, 2-3X week, 1ML, subcutaneous., been injecting since Nov. 2021, my GP, is not very knowledgeable about PERNICIOUS ANEMIA, after many, many, tests, he finally agreed with me from info from this site.

All tests came back in range or above especially B12, which is to be expected, still have the numbness in hands and other B12 deficiency symptoms.

Cause was taking medicine for GERD for years, antacids, PPI, etc.

Thanking you all in advance for time, help and patience.

God bless you all.❤️

Yes i tried B12 patches for months when i was desperate ! I covered my torso with them eventually in my desperation—— to no avail whatsoever. A scientist on the forum told us that the B12 molecule is too large to get through the skin-so nouse at all.

I read on here of a member who said that the patches had helped . So you could’give them a try !

Yes the trouble with using PPIs for years is that those symptoms can become irreversible . But i also read on this forum that perseverance pays off even after years

The treatment for neurological symptoms is injections every other day . Hope you get answers on this forum .

Best wishes

DMSO takes micro nutrients through the skin very quickly the scientist is incorrect here. Dr Sarah Myhill amongst others discusses this and she is working towards providing a spray onto the skin, but Dr Myhill I believe already has one with some vitamins & mineral in. I have taken B12 ampules through the skin with DMSO and would continue to do so if I could get the ampules!

The opinion was that on its own, B12 is too large to go through the skin. It was said that there might be a possibility of some sort of chaperoning molecule. Or, for that matter, some sort of micro-needle array.

In my view, the scientist wasn't incorrect.

It is also advisable to read up properly before using DMSO.

The original post asked whether skin patches worked to get B12 into the blood stream, skin patches have a medium on which takes the desired micro nutrient in. So the scientist's comment and your repition of it was off point. I have studied nutrition and functional medicine so I am fully aware of what DMSO is and what it is not; perhaps you should do some research before you tell others to not use something that can be of great help with healing!

I'd appreciate your accepting that I have not told anyone not to use anything.

My point about DMSO didn't say don't use it. Just read up first. There are issues with using it in some circumstances.

I think you can take it from my replies that I have read, researched and know about DMSO, just as I can tell from your replies that you do not. Perhaps at this point it is best to agree to disagree.

I wouldn't jeopardise your treatment with any changes as very early days .I would continue as you are at present.

I haven't personally tried patches but tried sublingual, sprays tablets to reduce frequency of b12 injections as per Gp advice in the past.

A mistake foe me as set me back

A neurologist. One out of 3 advised to keep b12 levels high.

Watch symptoms as no quick fix after eliminating other causes fir my severe symptoms.

With an injection as straight into your blood stream you know you have had it.

I'm concentrating on getting more of my life back rather than decreasing b12.

Hope you continue to progress

Hi RisingOne,

I tried patches whilst waiting for my blood results as I knew I was B12 deficient.

They did not work for me. However, that is not to say they won’t for you as we are all different.

I am sorry to read about PPIs.

Take good care

I covered myself in patches when I was desperate to try to function at work, they were of no use. The spray also didn’t help me and actually since it contained artificial sweeteners it played havoc with my stomach. I sometimes take the 1000mcg sublingual tablets in the days leading up to my injection if I’m struggling, not sure if they work really but they might a bit.. The only that makes a difference is an injection for me,
