What is the probability of an adverse reaction to a 1st B12 injection?
Hi All, My mum is very poorly at the moment. She already had mobility issues but over the past few months has been complaining of loss of feeling in her hands, to the point that she has now lost any purposeful use of her hands (can't hold anything). She is also completely exhausted. She has been assessed

Iron. So confused.
Hi all, I'm going crazy with trying to understand what is going on with my iron levels right now. I recently got a NHS iron panel test that came back high - suggesting iron overload to which my GP panicked, but critically they missed off serum ferritin as there was a national reagent shortage. Ferritin iron advice please
Hello, My recent ferritin results was 21% of range, even though iron was 78%. I did neglect iron the last few weeks a bit as I ran out of my usual iron tablets. I have now Solgar's Gentle Iron 20 and iron in a liposomal form (gel) 20 mg as well. How many should I be taking to raise it? Thank you

Some Positive News
I had an appointment today with my Oral Medicine consultant. An interesting conversation: I had asked for a saliva haptocorrin test. It seems that I would have to wait about 9 years - as such a thing does not yet exist. A shame - because it seemed a simple idea : if saliva glands are unable to

New method of dosage of B12--Discredited!
The below is without citation and I may be incorrect. Statement of Facts:
Edit-I was using a form of analysis. The 'Statement of facts' Is what I was using and accepting as true to form my hypothesis and conclusion. It was not an absolute which would be reasonable to assume. My bad for assuming

B12 results-please can someone advise?
B12/folate level Serum vitamin B12 level > 2000 pg/mL [191.0 - 663.0]; Above high reference limit Serum folate level 2.0 ug/L [4.5 - 37.3]; <3.0 g/l : Indicative of folate deficiency and,if clinically appropriate, treatment shouldfollow BNF schedules.3.0 - 4.5 g/l : May suggest early deficiency

Vitamin levels
Where should the following vitamin levels be within the ranges: B12 Vitamin D Ferritin Folate And any others that I am not aware of that are important for the thyroid. Also, do you have to take these vitamins separately if deficient and not in multivitamin form? Thank you

Checking on my understanding of Folic Acid
The friend I am giving information to and not advising has Serum Folate test results of 3.3 ug/l. It is my understanding it is thought that folic acid 5mg once a day should be taken to bring folic acid into mid range and then monitored to keep the level in mid range during any B12 supplementation.

All Symptoms could be Neurological?
It seems to me that all symptoms of B12 deficiency that are known and some I experience that are not not associated with B12 deficiency could be attributed to the neurological system. Any thoughts?
