Dr. Mark Porter's B12 Times article
Further to deniseinmilden's post I decided to risk my credit card and subscribed to the free trial of The Times to get the article. Here it is, for better or for worse! There are a lot of comments, some of which he replies to, sadly I can't reproduce them here. But I think it's good news in terms of the

Possible allergy to b12
Good morning! I developed a rash a week ago that covered my body and made my lips swell. The doctor suggested stopping b12 and cofactors. He felt it was an allergy to meds and wanted to try these before my heart meds as they would have to be eliminated at the hospital Anyway! I have had the course of

iron test results help please
I must admit that even after a few years, while I mostly understand my thyroid test results, my iron tests continue to confuse me - I just can’t seem to get my head around the significance of the different parts. So I wondered if someone who actually understands could please explain in really simple

Iron Results
Could someone advise on my iron blood test please? I've been trying to raise my Ferritin levels since I had a reaction to starting carbimazole and was hospitalised with agranulocytosis 2 years ago. My levels before were 70 and on release from hospital were 19. I've lost tons of hair and lots of symptoms

Off B12 a week before B12 blood test or not?
Hello, my mum is due a repeat B12 blood test (and hoping for a full iron panel too which I have just requested) - does she need to stop the B12 supplements a week before the blood test? Or is stopping B vitamins only necessary before the thyroid blood tests? Many thanks.

Vitamin D test
I have been taking Vitamin D+K2 for a few months now, while in Tesco today I noticed a at home vitamin D test so I brought one. I have just done the test and it showed only 1 line which says vitamin D levels are excessive and I should contact my doctor, how reliable are these at home finger price tests

Where do I go to?
I am a 60 year old male, I don’t know if I have PA, B12 deficiency or other. I have a number of symptoms which lead me to believe it is at least a B12 deficiency. Having asked my GP for an “active” B12 test I received a full serum test which came with normal levels and apparently that was me cured, my

Can it still be B12 deficiency?
I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency and I have been on cyanocobalamin injection for more than a year now. I still have neuropathic symptoms, fatigue, lethargy and sleeplessness. Can anyone who had such experience advise me.

Seems to me.
Not a medic nor have the ability to do that job. Seems to me there is no such thing as B12 deficiency without neurological effects. Most notably fatigue. It seems that neurological symptoms are only considered if peripheral neuropathy is experienced. This does not seem credible to me. Seems to me

B12 injections
I was diagnosed with PA in my 30s. Quite a shock. I was on injections until last year when I was 70. I was told by my PCP that sublingual B12 would work. My last bloodwork indicated my B12 levels were off the charts. I've never, ever had high B12 results. I'm wondering if it could have been a mistake

B12 Deficiency Video
This video does not address the need for B12 injections, it just recommends oral supplementation but I still thought it was interesting https://nutritionfacts.org/video/friday-favorites-the-symptoms-of-vitamin-b12-deficiency-and-optimal-dosage-for-adults/?utm_source=NutritionFacts.org&utm_campaign=22b90fcb7d-RSS_VIDEO_WEEKLY

I’m unsure if I have a b12 deficiency?
So for 8 years now my b12/folate has come back low ( e.g - b12 183 and folate 2.2 was my last one last September and it has been them sort of levels for quite a few years. I’ve had another blood test recently and my levels have gone up folate 6.5 and b12 217 (which I know is still low but I just can

b12 whilst breastfeeding
I’m spinning out a bit about this and would really appreciate any responses. I have a b12 deficiency issue which predates my pregnancy. After a battle some years ago, I am treated with b12 injections every 8 weeks. I am now 15 weeks postpartum and exclusively breastfeeding my baby. Over the last week

Next steps/where to get active b12 test?
Quick background: B12 deficiency (152) in 2017, negative IFAB, received 2x 3 monthly injections then taken off them. Investigating various symptoms now, recent bloods show drop in B12 from December 2022 (455) to now (206). Doctor saying I just need to take a multivitamin with B12 in, but I am not convinced
