I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency and I have been on cyanocobalamin injection for more than a year now. I still have neuropathic symptoms, fatigue, lethargy and sleeplessness. Can anyone who had such experience advise me.

Can it still be B12 deficiency?
Hi Orimini, welcome to the forum. Can i ask, how often do you inject? Continued neurological symptoms often require daily injections (1000 mcg) of cyano, some people may need them even more frequently.
Have you had folate measured? Low folate will prevent B12 from doing its job effectively and can cause additional symptoms b12deficiency.info/folate-b... If you have low folate , your doctor would likely recommend supplementing with folic acid, folinic acid, or methylfolate
I hope your doctor has ruled out other causes
I am not medically trained
Best wishes
Hi Orimini,Your progress on symptom relief sounds rather normal to me. B12 injection will resolve your megaloblastic Anemia rather quickly within a month or two depending on frequency of injections. However neurological symptoms takes much longer to resolve. In my case much of the balance issues and peripheral neuropathy resolved in maybe a year. As part of that process my neuropathy went from numbness to very uncomfortable pins and needles to then severe pain. This is really the process of your nerves healing and "waking up". Depending on how severe your B12 was and how long it went untreated some nerves may never heal. In my case I still have residual neuropathy in my right hand and foot after 3.5 years of injecting. Fatigue...well that's a problem if you have B12 deficiency due to autoimmune PA. Gastritis then you will have chronic inflammation so you body is constantly fighting that. After three years I still have fatigue.
So since you've only been supplementing B12 for three months your progress seems fairly normal. I would maybe suggest increasing the frequency of your injections.
I am currently injecting 2000mcg methylcobalamin weekly.
