Surgery with an auto immune disorder
Has anyone had surgery such as a mastectomy or
hysterectomy
since having RA or equivalent? Was this an issue? For example was recovering more difficult? Or was the operation itself more of a challenge?

Hysterectomy all done!
Hi my
hysterectomy
is complete and it was the best outcome I could have wished for. . Everything gone no endo left, and didn't need a bag. Surgeon thinks i wont need any more surgery. I'm so happy!! I'm in a lot of pain at the moment, a lot worse than before but I know it will go in time.

Has anyone been able to opt for surgery/hysterectomy without going down the mirena / hormone route first under 40??
Im 35 so they are dismissive of a
hysterectomy
and urged me to try the mirena... I feel very uncomfortable going down this route of hormonal whatnots and coils, the more i think about it the more i would prefer to a more "permanent" solution.

Post op bleeding after intercourse
I'm 12wks post op for a full
hysterectomy
this week... Decided to have some romantic time with husband for the first time since surgery.. Which went well and apart from a little issue with my wound healing... Had everything removed due to endo and fibroids.

Adhesions/Endo pain returns ten years on from full hysterectomy - HELP!
I had a complete
hysterectomy
and ovaries removed about 10 years ago (age 36) due to stage 4 endometriosis which resulted in a frozen pelvis and extensive bowel damage.

Can an Hysterectomy affect the thyroid?
A happy New Year to all My friend has suggested that her Thyroid stopped functioning within 12 months after removal of her ovaries 20 years ago Is this related ? She says the ovaries are the powerhouse of the endocrine system? I thought it would be the reproductive system? Not looking for right

Walking Aid for Endometriosis
I am now going through a series of tests which may result in me having to have a
hysterectomy
. I have been extremely unwell and deteriorating fast over the last year. I am unable to take hormonal treatments as they make me really poorly and often worsen the condition I am in.

Just Curious
When I had my
Hysterectomy
back in 2000, they found cysts and fibroids. Thus, they had to remove that ovary. Could this be happening with my Kidney and I just haven't been told to have a Cat Scan to find out? I wonder if I should tell my Neph about this.

Clear cell stage 2 ovarian - should my mum have chemo?
Also had full
hysterectomy
too. The cyst ruptured during surgery and so the consultant has recommended carboplatin / Taxol chemotherapy 6 cycles in 3 week sections. They completed several washes during surgery to try to eliminate any cancerous cells remaining.

Frustrated with my recovery....
Had a total
hysterectomy
, bilateral salpingo oopherectomy and excision for Stage 4 Endometriosis on August 12th 2019 and recovery after this was slow as I expected. Was 12 weeks before going back to work and went back on reduced hours. Now January and still struggling.

new - need help
Have been hypothyroid over 35 years and functioned pretty well until after
hysterectomy
in 1989. (I think this in retrospect). Started being not well with back pain/head and l had to leave work in 1994. Put it all down to wear and tear. All this time on levothyroxine.

Has anyone tried reflexology for their Hashimoto’s?
I had a
hysterectomy
when I was 39 and recovered quickly, but within a couple of weeks an avalanche of symptoms arrived. My oestrogen reading was 0 so the docors told me I needed this HRT or maybe that one or testosterone, no, definitely not progesterone or maybe it was the first HRT I tried…..

Questions about what happens after hysterectomy & unilateral ovary removal
I’m due to have an op to remove the endo on my bowel & will probably have a
hysterectomy
(due to adenomysis) and one ovary removed. I said that I’d prefer to keep my right ovary (which is healthy apparently) as I thought if I do that I might be able to avoid taking HRT.

Lack of understanding from others
I felt like screaming at her that she had no idea and that it probably won’t get much better, it will probably get progressively worse and it could end up in my having a
hysterectomy
. And I might struggling with conceiving a child.
