Has anyone tried reflexology for their Hashimoto’s?

Just a bit about my history first. I had a hysterectomy when I was 39 and recovered quickly, but within a couple of weeks an avalanche of symptoms arrived. My oestrogen reading was 0 so the docors told me I needed this HRT or maybe that one or testosterone, no, definitely not progesterone or maybe it was the first HRT I tried….. Truthfully none of them made a scrap difference. Seventeen years later I crawled into my GP’s surgery and pleaded for help. She gave me every blood test she could think of but then told me they were all normal. A month later, still unable to function I crawled back again to thump her desk but before I could speak she said ‘Ah your back about your positive test result’. Apparently I had tested positive for thyroid antibodies. The relief was enormous but lasted seconds as she proceeded to tell me it was all perfectly normal and needed no treatment. The shock, brain fog and sheer ignorance of what thyroid antibodies might be meant I just crawled away again.

Thankfully a more enlightened friend introduced me to the lovely Dr P and I finally discovered the treatment I needed. I don’t think everything came back to normal but I’m feeling reasonably ok now, at least I can function and live a normal life. However, as I’m sure everyone knows the cost of meds and supplements is huge and the difficulty of obtaining T3 is a stress filled nightmare so any way of removing the need for all that would be very welcome.

Back to the reflexology. My husband has progressively suffered with sciatic neck/back pain resulting in a numb leg and foot. Diagnosis defied the best the NHS could offer and even showed nothing after MRI scanning. Eventually one of his friends suggested a local reflexologist. The results are nothing short of miraculous. After three treatments sensation in his leg is almost back to normal. In conversation during treatment he mentioned my Hashimoto’s and the reflexologist said that reflexology treatment can be very effective with auto immune conditions such as this.

Has anyone tried reflexology? Has it made a difference to how you feel? Has it proved itself on blood test results? I might just give it a go anyway but I’d really appreciate anyone else’s experiences.

Not used it , but when diagnosed a few years ago I read a piece on here that reflexology could help hypothyroidism.

Dr Peatfield recommended it to me ( Advanced Reflexology ) and said it had helped him .

Thank you, that is interesting. I have great respect for Dr Peatfield as he helped me so much. I think I might give it a try.
