Can Hydrea Resolve (fix) Marrow?
In a recent thread one report has HU providing a strong benefit to marrow, esp for ET, but some in PV too, discussed here: https://healthunlocked.com/mpnvoice/posts/148588347/high-low-jak2-and-risk-of-mf-progression This is a surprise. So I did a quick search and two further reports come up supporting

Hydroxyurea and cracked teeth?
Hi, Has anyone had issues with cracked teeth while taking
Hydrea
? I'm 74 and have been on
Hydrea
about 1 year. In the last 6 months, I have had 3 cracked teeth, all required crowns and a piece of filling fall out of a 4th tooth, which could be repaired.

Anyone with ET use Besremi?
I have high risk ET, CALR-1 and resistant to
Hydrea
. Pegasys has worked well for past 8 years but now liver can no longer tolerate. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what the change in cytoreductive management strategy was.

interferon resistant
I was on pegasys(max dose) for 3 years with
hydrea
and now on besremi since April with titration of
hydrea
. Since off
hydrea
my numbers have been creeping up. I think I'm one of those that are semi-resistant to interferons. Can you continue to use
hydrea
with besremi?

I have been on
Hydrea
for a few months and am beginning to notice that I have weird body odor. Have any of you had bad body odor and if you have what are you doing to prevent?

Hydrea contains Lactose, could it affect Lactose Tolerance?
https://healthunlocked.com/mpnvoice/posts/148527620/hu-one-good-thing -- So I checked out
Hydrea
, and it actually contains lactose. Usually such sensitive ingredients are called out more clearly.

Chronic Belly Bloating on Hydrea
Hi All, I've been on
hydrea
(hydoxycarbamide 500mg) for about 20 mths now. Platelets are normal, so my dose is reduced to 500mg daily. I am still suffering with chronic tummy bloat. For someone who is normally slim, it's annoying to be burdened with a balloon tummy.

Starting low dose Interferon Pegasys
Currently taking 1500mg a day of
Hydrea
but platelets are still high. After years of consideration my Dr ordered low dose Interferon today (hoping my insurance approves it). I’m only 38 and there seems to be less long term side effects. Anyone else taking this drug and approve?

confused about options
I’m currently on 4 capsules of
hydrea
a week and my platelets are now at 583 which is ok with both my local hematologist and my MPN specialist at Stanford. I have no symptoms, am 77 and was diagnosed in January. They immediately wanted me to go on daily hydroxyurea but I refused.

I was happy with my hemo but just couldn’t get behind the idea of taking
hydrea
for 30+ years (God willing.) I was told that if treatment ever becomes indicated for me, interferons would be a better fit for me considering my age and relative good health.

ET CALR - Heavy Flu like head, neuropathy
So with platelets still under 1m I began 500mg daily of
Hydrea
. This increased to 1 daily and 2 every other day in June 2022. Platelets around 500k now. Have seen 10 different neurologist and spine docs.

Increased Platelets
I was put on
Hydrea
500mg 7 tabs a week eventually increased to 10 tabs a week until my platelets were down under 400. I am now in a new state, new Dr which happens to be an MPN specialist and my numbers have been slowly increasing and I am concerned.

My Heamatologist said I most likely have ET and mutation tests showed I have JAK2
So she said she would follow that up with my GP and if I had still be in OZ she would have started me on
Hydrea
and booked me in for a Bone Marrow Biopsy, she said it only takes a week to get in.
