Hydrea

Hi Maz, Hi all other MPN people on this site.I have just had 'Doppler'scans,as my G P was concerned that in spite of increased Hydrea,hematocrite was not coming down below 50.Result was 'furring up 'of arteries.Assured that it is P V that is cause,not life style,been slim ,fit,none smoker or drinker.

For two years I have been taking Hydrea also, and now discover from creatinine clearance rate that I have moderate renal insufficiency. I see this is a possible side-effect of Hydrea: should I stop taking it?

Initially I was on interferon alpha one year , which I agreed very well but due high price, doc. switched on Hydrea until now. Now for 3-4 month I have possibility to use again interferon alpha. Has somebody made this changes? How have you affected by this?Your Opinions? Thank you in advance.

Been on hydrea for 6 months. Got my white and red bloods counts done but still high eosiniphils?

Hello, Was reading your old post of approx. 6 mos. ago, explaining your reduction in taking the Hu (hydrea) results taking 2-500mg 5 days & 3-500mg 2days making a total of 8.000mg & reducing your count from ll60 to 385. What is your present count & and has your mg of Hu been changed since then?

Since very hot and humid weather,I am having breathing problems,I have P V,meds Hydrea ,Isoptine,Asprin have inhalers for asthma which do not help,previously always controlled and never a problem.Does any one else experience this?

I have been taking 500 mg of hydrea. I now have vertigo. Has anyone had this happen to them? Could it be from the meds?

I have been treated with Hydrea since diagnosis and do have AFib, high BP, Hypertensive heart, CHF at times, a high risk for both heart attack and stroke, therefor my Cardiologist has me on Xarelto as well.

For the past twelve months I have been treated in France as we are now resident here, but I have some concerns: treatment is Hydrea 2x daily which has reduced my leucocyte and platelet counts well, but failed to control the haematocrit.

TCM Herbs and acupuncture was slowly showing results but my doc convinced I go on Hydrea 14 months ago. I was worried before Hydrea! now I have a number of side effects that are strongly effecting my life negatively BUT my platelets look great....toss up which side of this coin is better...

Is this just the pvr or side effect of hydrea

Mega-3 three times after food and Hydrea 500 after dinner and also taking fenugreek seeds/3times/ 25gms just before food Walking 45 min.in the morning Food: Breakfast - boiled egg white-1, Chappathi/Dosai-1 and veg.salad. Lunch-50 gms rice with 2 vegetables 100 grms, curd.

I was taken off hydrea and put on anti -virus for a week. I am so sick and tired of being in pain that my head is spinning. Noone I know can relate to what I'm going through, I want to be a hermit. I am cranky all the time. I feel so bad for my kids, they don't deserve a sick mom.

The headaches started before Hydrea but became worse after on the med for a year.

I am due to start interferon meds very soon due to unstable counts on hydrea, the Hem has warned me I am in for a period of ajustment which maybe very difficult in parts due to side effects - I would be very grateful if anyone can share their experiences on this med, I guess I need to know how bad it
