Hydrea

Does anyone with ET & on Hydrea get short of breath and fatigued on hot humid days? My MPN doc says not from my MPN since I'm not anemic. But my other docs can't find any cause. Even walking 150 feet in hot humid weather can cause it. I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks. Katie

My question is: Has anyone had Hydrea reduce platelet count, as I have (338), and then stopped taking it? I wondering if, and how long it would take, the count to climb back over 750?

And now on Hydrea .'1000mg/day and no more symptoms Keeping my fingers crossed?. It was the ET?p

70 year old with ET. 1000mg Hydrea nightly. Hoping it doesn't turn into anything worse. Might the Hydrea make that more likely? Have suffered many attacks of ischemic colitis. jerrymohler@Comcast.net

I have PV diagnosed nearly 7 years ago, treated with Hydrea and venesection, plus low-dose aspirin.

I do take Hydrea also. Does anyone else have this problem.

Does anyone experience nausea from spending time in the Sun while taking Hydrea? Also my feet are so sore and burning on the ball of my foot and one of my toes. Can hardly walk sometimes. Anyone have any suggestions.? Trying to stay hydrated.

I think I must have had every treatment available in the last 32 years; radio active phosphorus injections, interferon, Hydrea, Busulphan, Anagrelide, aspirin and clopidogrel to name but a few. I also have an underactive thyroid and take Thyroxine for that.

Getting my Hydrea in a month. Can't wait after reading some comments on the site. Any guidance would be most helpful. Thank you in advance.  

Well today I picked up my repeat prescription and the chemist have given me Hydrea by Squibb and I normally have Hydroxycarbamide from a company called Medac, although they are the same drug, the Squbb one are a bright pink and grey and some of the ingredients are different, have spoken with Boots the

As a consequence, I mistakenly took the pills from my 'Wednesday' medicine-organiser, so took my hydrea. I dont intend to take it tonight but will again, as usual on Friday. Anyone out there ever done that? I doubt its necessary to take any action, but just posting it out there. . . K

I've been lucky and had very few side effects from hydrea but am worried now. Please anyone advise me on pros and cons of alternative meds. Thankyou sue x

Saw my hem today and my white blood is still high after being on Hydrea go 2 years. I also have very high Eosinophils. Ive been having lots of fatigue and have large purple raised bumbs on my legs and arms. He's thinking about switching meds to Menthotrexate.

Hi is anyone on ruxolitinib trial iam on hydrea but iam having problems with my feet like walking on stones i have been on hydrea 9 years consultant advise me to try and get on trial for this drug any lnformation thank you

I was diagnosed with ET in July, started Hydrea at the end of October, taking 500 mg a day. Just had my blood checked again yesterday and my numbers did not go down (690) so they have upped my Hydrea to 1000 mg a day. My question is, is there any connection between ET and varicose veins?

I met my new consultant yesterday, who was about to give me a prescription for Hydrea, which he says is the first line of attack for PV sufferers of my age (I'm 69). Apparently, older people have a higher risk of stroke, DVT etc.

At the moment I take 11 hydrea a week. My Hemotologist is very friendly but I now realise that he really hasn't told my a lot, am I CALR pos., JAK2 neg./pos. ? The possible side effects from the medication, the future prospects.

I began using Hydroxyurea/Hydrea. I am still using this drug today. I was sent for a second opinion to Rush Medical Center and saw Dr. Stephanie Gregory who once again verified my having PT/Spherocytosis.

Both medications have stopped working now to a degree, Hydrea and Rux. My husband is to start radiation treatment next week to try and shrink his spleen which is massive. His platelets a couple of days ago were only 65.

How low has your WBC count been since on the hydrea medicine. I have E.T. I'm know that taking the Hydrea medicine our counts RBC & RBC will not bee in normal range & often low. Looking back the lowest my wbc count has been 2.8.
