That changed my mind so I am starting this Thursday on hydrea and phlebotomy.I know I need to change my thinking and take the pill with gratitude if it keeps me alive and healthy. Again thank you all for sharing with me. Sunny Lesser

Its been 8 years that Im taking Hydrea medication and my daily dose today is 1000/1500mg. My platelet counts currently are 766, but RBC is gradually decreasing (3,2). Please do share your opinions or if you have similar experience. Thank you very much in advance! Marina

I don’t think this is reflux.I have been on 1000mg of Hydrea since January. I have never had cardiac issues or high cholesterol. I stopped Hydrea for 5 days but still had the chest pain. I am supposed to get in a plane at 5:30 in the morning and I am a little nervous. Gahhhhhhh!!!!!

I'm on Hydrea 5500mg/week for ET, which has been the dose for a few months now. Platelets are now normal (low 300's), but I believe that I will be on a maintenance dose when I next see my haematologist at the end of May. I have suffered with constipation since day 1.

I recently started taking 500mg of Hydrea daily. My HCT is now 48.7 and my platelets are 319. I just had my vitamin D tested and it was 26.7 which indicates vitamin D insufficiency . I have been taking about 1000 IU of vitamin D a day.

Hi All, I wanted to fins out how old you were when you got diagnosed with PV as i am 27 and started a month now on Hydrea but my bloods were good but seem to slowly rise again, she said she want to increase my dosage as i am not happy about that . does this get easier _ who can help me and talk me

I am recently diagnosed ET JAK2 + and have been taking 500 mg Hydrea every other day for a week. Has anyone else had this happened and if so what helps the burning sensation?

I am supposed to start taking Hydrea 500 mg/ day for ET JAK2 +. I am concerned about this knowing it is a chemotherapy drug. I know everyone is different. What side effects have you guys had taking this. Anything bad. Does your hair fall out?

Currently on 1000mg Hydrea 4 times a week and 500mg for the other 3. Does anyone else have really bad nausea (no vomiting)?

They want to start me on Hydrea. I can’t talk to the doctor till next week. I don’t know what any of this means. I read the medicine is a chemotherapy medicine. Does this mean I have cancer? Help me understand this

I started treatment just 6 weeks ago and I've been on 6000mg Hydrea (1000mg Mon-Thurs and 500 mg Fri -Sun) now for about 4 weeks.

Hi I recently started on interferon switching from Hydrea. I have ET. Since starting interferon l have been having on -going leg pain ( hip and shins) not all the time. First in my left leg then in the right. Wandered if anyone else has had the same. I take paracetamol which helps.

If so, will my Hydrea help with this? I can barely handle someone touching me. Mostly my legs are constantly throbbing. Has anyone researched NAC supplements and their effects on ET?

Hi all I’ve just been diagnosed in November with PV and am Jak2 positive also my doctor says it’s not a serious condition but the more I read about it the more worried I am getting I don’t know what questions I should be asking I am taking 500 mg Hydrea a day

My question is what are treatment costs like in NZ (hematology visits, blood work, etc.) and what does hydrea run? I am a teacher with really good insurance so just want to be prepared. Thanks!

Said for now, I can live a long problem-free life on Aspirin alone as the only thing I can get from my ET is some tingling in my feet and suggested Hydrea if in my next control my platellets exceed 800k-1m.

Also, my hematologist told me that pregnancy and hydrea don’t go well together. Did anyone here take hydrea, stop then get pregnant? I’m getting married in November and plan to have a baby. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
