Supplements and sulking...
Hi everyone... well 9 weeks into taking hydroxychoroquine I’m still having massive problems with my knees, so now on yet another course of steroids. I gave up drinking alcohol a week ago, I’ve just started swimming and trying to look after myself better - thought it would help but my knees are so sore

What Question(s) do You Wish You Had Asked Your Rheumatologist at the First Appointment?
I have my first Rheumatologist appointment on Wednesday re my preliminary diagnosis of GCA - (That will be day 15 of starting Pred). An artery biopsy has been requested and I hope to find out today, when that might be. I have kept a note of symptoms from the outset but want to be sure I ask all the right

NTU Singapore scientists devise 'Trojan horse' approach to kill cancer cells without using drugs

L-phenylalanine is known as an 'essential' amino acid as it cannot be made by the body and must

I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis back in 2007. I always managed my condition without Bisphosphonates, firstly when I was able to take HRT and some supplements, then, when HRT was no longer an option, with diet, exercise and supplements. THE BENEFITS OF TAURINE ON STRESS
I recently found some interesting info re: Taurine, an amino acid that can be missing in the brain or lower in people with neurological disorders with extreme anxiety or stress. I've been taking it at night and was just told I could take more of it without harm. Severe stress uses up Taurine in our

I need a new back.
Hi, I have had my telephone follow up appointment, ( for those of you who don't know, my clinic one was cancelled ) I have been told, that because of the current situation with Covid-19 it is not worth the risk to my health to bring me back to clinic for another six months. I will have a face to face

Generic alendronate vs brand Fosemax
Hi Everyone, I have finally reached the point where my doctor has recommended that I begin treatment for osteoporosis. The hope is to take bisphosonates for 2-3 years then a drug holiday if all goes well. I have read a number of articles that state while generics are fine for many other conditions

Excruciating back pain
I’m waiting for my appointment to go through with gyny and have a scan on Wednesday. I’m on codeine and mefenamic acid. I’m very constipated lol. I’m still getting cramping and ovary pain. The pain has moved right across my lower back for the past week and it’s excruciating. Is this common?

Can Prednisolone Cause Extreme Fatigue?
I am awaiting a biopsy for confirmation of a diagnosis of GCA and started 60mg Prednisolone daily 5 days ago. I take them straight after breakfast but am getting absolutely crushing fatigue around lunchtime and the first half of the aftenoon. This is worse than the fatigue I was experiencing before starting

Vitamins
I am now down to 1/2 of a 1mg prednisone after almost two and one half years. My only concern is my red blood cell count is still up . I am thinking of cutting back on my vitamin D. The doctor has me on 2000mg but I was also on 25mg of prednisone . I am thinking I may only need 1000 now. I have stopped

Help with blood results
So, the endo is happy with my T3 and T4. Mid to upper range. However I still suffer from bloating, hair loss and fairly rapid pulse (90 bpm) . I take 50mcg levo and 1 grain Thai NDT. I had my iron checked in June 19. GP told me that my levels were ‘normal’. I’ve recently had the Mirena coil removed

The Dr is going to give it a try! Started Synthroid yesterday!
Hi everybody, I’m new here and I posted 3 weeks ago saying that my dr didn’t want to give me Synthroid, but now he will! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Long story long, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto 15 years ago when I was 27 and never did anything about it. After reading a LOT here I realize that I’m not feeling good

I've tried almost everything to get relief for my RLS. What else can I do?
I am an 84 year old male, living in eastern United States, and have been suffering with leg and foot problems for over 30 years. I have seen eight different Neurologists over the years, and several said that I have Post-Thalamic pain, RLS, and Peripheral Neuropathy. I have taken Lyrica, Duloxetine, Alpha

This is my first post but I have been reading and learning from here for months! I was diagnosed with atypical PMR in April 2019, a couple of months after symptoms first appeared, which was a few weeks after getting an infusion of Aclasta (zolodronic acid) for osteoporosis .
