Anticoagulant switching
There have been a few post recently about pressure to switch from apixaban to other anticoagulants. I’ve been on apixaban for a number of years now and so far not been asked to change. However my 92 year old father in law, who has chronic kidney problems, has just been given edoxaban instead of his

hi, I’ve been listed for liver transplant in Birmingham. I’m currently being treated for cancer in Liverpool Aintree. They have made so many mistakes it’s unbelievable… They didn’t do bloods for hepatitis and after 16 months of cancer Birmingham discover this is the primary cause. They ruptured

As you lovely people were so kind reassuring and helpful during my recent meltdown, I thought I’d let you know what happened today. I had an echo and then an ecg after which I was seen by a very nice cardiologist for results. The high BNP is due to persistent AF, my heart remarkably in good shape with

Hi wondering if anyone has had a successful DLA claim for their child post liver transplant? Daughter was born with Biliary atresia and had a liver transplant a year and a half ago.

Varicose Veins ( Heart Related question )
Just a question Has anyone noticed new Varicose Veins in the leg that the Vein for Heart Bypass was harvested? My bypass was 2015 and they used the vein from my left leg as part of the procedure, I have noticed recently a couple of Largeish Varicose Veins in the leg that the vein was taken from. I

Awaiting diagnosis of Heart Failure
My husband had a Mitral and Tricuspid Valve repair in June 2020, however his AF could not be treated as it had been happening for too long (they discovered the valve problems because AF was found on an ECG some 18 months prior to the operation). He has been struggling with his breathing for some months

Atrial Flutter and AFib
Hello, Briefly I've had multiple Aortic/Mitral valve surgeries, with the second in 2013 I acquired Complete Heart Block, Permanent AF, Shunt, and my Pacemaker. I'm probably lucky that I've been reasonably stable over the years, other than every now and again having the PM settings altered. On Warfarin

angiogram
Has anyone had to stop their apixaban for an angiogram. I understand because of bleeding, but when I went to have my pre op assessment the nurse didn’t know. She "thought" I had to stop the apixaban for 2 days prior and take aspirin 75 instead. I have tried to get on to the hospital, but always answerphone

new diagnosis advice on blood thinners please
I had my diagnosis only 4 days ago after an echocardiogram. I was prescribed Apixaban 5mg twice a day which are making me feel incredibly ill so I haven’t taken today’s dose. I intend to ring my surgery Monday morning to ask if there’s another medication blood thinner I could take instead with less

Diagnosing Heart Failure?
I am looking for some advice from others who have been in a similar situation or know more about blood tests and heart failure please. My husband had a Mitral and Tricuspid valve repair 2 years ago but nothing could be done regarding his AF. Since COVID he’s been pretty much left to get on with things

Looking for information
I had my kidney transplant April, 2019. In the last couple of months I have had issues with being so cold that I need a coat or a heating pad. Then after about half an hour, I am so warm it's almost as if I have a horrible sunburn, especially on my back. Is this from the anti-rejection meds?
