European Masters Championships 2023 Pescara, Italy 21/09-01/10, Intro and 100 metres
I’ve decided to split my report into sections as it covers three events and quite a few races. It’s also getting unimaginably long 😬 and I don’t like to keep folk waiting. This is the first instalment which sets the scene and covers the 100 metre event. Make yourself a nice cuppa tea and maybe even

Hi, Apologies, I’m dreadful at remembering terminology .. I’ve had racing and irregular heart beat intermittently for a decade of more. I have a resting heart rate of 50 and low blood pressure. My afib tends to be aggressive and I usually end up in hospital. ( rate of 240 not unusual) Last time had

Tachycardia
Hi. After six months clear of af it suddenly came back last month. It seems to bother me every day since. I’m on Bisoprolol 10 and flecainide 50.x 2. Also became tachycardic. Spoke to gp who agreed I could increase flecainide to 2 x 100. Made me very breathless so reduced it again. I’m mostly tachycardic

hi all, I’m in the U.K. I don’t have a specialist just GP and a nurse anticoagulant clinic I visit. Are U.K. APS patients on warfarin suppose to have a heparin injections supply at home for emergencies when inr too low. The nurse said it’s a good idea since pharmacies don’t usually have in in stock

A question please
I had had bouts of Afib ranging on average of 12-18 hours a time for many years. I then had one of 55 hours 5 years ago. Then it was back to the usual pattern. Suddenly I’m into another long one? I have always self converted and never been to hospital, except twice in 18 years and that was with chest

Starting Home Dialysis-Advice?
I received a kidney transplant in 2014 and now I need another one. I had never been on dialysis before but now I have to go on. I have elected to do dialysis at home. I'm nervous about every part of it from doing it correctly to the amount of space I will need to store materials to whether or not I will

Are people with recent mechanical valve and aorta replacement, considered vulnerable during heat waves?
Currently in Europe where there is an ongoing heatwave. Surgery just under 3 months ago. I can't see mechanical valve on the list for vulnerable groups during heatwaves. Just checking to see if I am correct in assuming that I should be as careful and sensible as every other person who has not had major

Good sats - so why so breathless?
THAT is indeed the question. Why, with my peripheral O2 levels at 94/5 %even 96% am I still fighting to breath? It goes like this. I wake short of breath. I rise and take my Oximeter (I have several; they all show the same) . My level is, say 92%. I do controlled breathing using a computer monitor

Kidney transplant
My husband received a kidney transplant from a deceased donor last month. He is doing well. Hopefully it will continue that way.

CHAD VASc
Last year on a visit to my EP he informed me that at the age of 64 and with a CHAD VASc score of 1 that anti coagulants were not necessary. However as I turn 65 then my score would go to 0 which then does require Anti-c . I am taking Flecainide, bisoprolol along with Magnesium and I am in good health

I have had RLS for close to 20 years and it has progressively got worse. I am on Pexola 1mg at night. I had heart surgery six years ago and am on 5mg of Zuvamor as a precautionary measure. Should I rather take my heart medication in the morning as I am now reading that it can affect the RLS?
