Pace and Ablate
I am scheduled for a pace and ablate procedure in October. I've been on multiple rhythm control drugs which sooner or later failed, including Tikosyn, had multiple cardiofversions, and one ablation which failed, I'm told because of my huge left atrium; so I wasn't offered any more ablations. All of

afib episode after decrease in metoprolol
Hello! I had an ablation 4 months ago and have been wonderfully Afib free except for a couple of small episodes during the blanking period. At least that was true until a couple days ago. I was told be my EP last week to reduce my metoprolol from 150 mg daily to 50. I did and it took 4 days to have an

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) vs Heart Attack
It is easy to feel overwhelmed with the amount of ‘medical language’ being used when discussing a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). A sudden cardiac arrest and a heart attack are both emergency situations - you need to dial 999 in UK or 911 in US immediately. Please download our leaflet Sudden Cardiac

Mitral valve replacement with tricuspid repair
I am trying to come to terms with facing open heart surgery shortly for severe mitral valve disease and moderate tricuspid regurgitation. I am 77 with other health issues and I am concerned about the length of time I'll need to recover. I spoke to my GP today to discuss the consultant's findings and

Trabeculectomy advice please
Hi, I am a newbie to this forum. I am nearly 62, and female. I was diagnosed with advanced glaucoma in June 2024 and told I need to have a trabeculectomy in both eyes. I was completely devastated, especially as 6 months ago I had open heart surgery to have an aortic valve replacement. My consultant

Hawthorn supplement helped
I have had paroxysmal AF for several years, but episodes were getting more frequent and lasting longer in the past year. I am a 53 yo female, slim build, never smoked, in good health otherwise. My mom had AF (tachycardia) for 40 yrs and my brother has V tach, so it's very much genetic. I saw the cardiologist

Recording AF with LBBB
I suffer from pAF and left bundle branch block. I would like to record an episode of AF on a personal ECG . I know many of you use Kardia but some reviews say it will not record AF if you have lbbb. I contacted Kardia and they confirmed it may record an af episode as unclassified. My Fitbit records

Woohoo! 1 year anniversary since my quadruple CABG 🙌🏻
Wow! Hard to believe that it’s been a year since I had quadruple bypass heart surgery following an Nstemi heart attack. I am so grateful. This last month has been pretty eventful too. I got the opportunity to thank two people that really contributed to my path of treatment and therefore my rebirth

Aortic valve replacement
I had an A-type Aortic dissection in 2017 - emergency open heart surgery followed, with a replacement tissue aortic valve as well. I was told the valve would need replacing in 10 to 15 years. I'm 7 years in now, and my question is how will I know when the valve needs replacing? What symptoms will I

Wellue users and True Afib
I am using a 24 hour Wellue device. I am an ER Nurse and well versed in ECG readings. My Wellue is interpreting Atrial Fibrillation, but I am skeptical. I have frequent PACs, Atrial Tachycardia in 2-7 beat runs, and blocked PACs. Have any of you had this experience? Being educated in reading them, do

Cardiac surgery meds bring PSA down?
My PSA was 1.6 on January 8 of this year. On January 31st I had successful open-heart surgery to repair a heart valve. On March 7th, my next blood test, my PSA had dropped to .5. Has anyone here heard that this sort of drop after surgery is normal? Perhaps there are meds used at that time that could
