Aggressive PCa - Cholesterol - Statins
New German study below. I often feel, in talking about statins, that I need to explain that I am horrified by the number of Americans using them. (& no, I haven't been overdosing on Dr. Mercola.) Coming up to age 70, I am not on any prescriptions except those I have chosen to be on for PCa - & that

Pravastatin Effective Dosage
Hello - I've been on 40mg Pravastatin for about 4 months now. I had a follow up lipid panel, and my cholesterol's effectively been cut by over 40% (from 251 to 153). Given this reduction, I'd like to get on a smaller dose (20mg) but so far the Doctor has resisted and wants to see how my levels are in

Is it the thyroid problem that makes me feel so ill ?
I have never been told my thyroid reading and neither by
HDL
or LDL for the
cholesterol
reading. Checking on the thyroid UK website apparently my blood tests can appear normal even if they are not !

Cholesterol level
Hi. My cholesterol is at 5.5. I am a 27 year old male. Is this very bad considering my age? I don't exercise and was told exercising could make a huge difference and bring it down quickly.

I wanted him to get it done (bear with me it is relevant!) because he had a cholesterol test about a year ago as part of a health check he gets with work and it was a little high. He also does a very stressful

BELLY FAT - A risk for the development of diabetes and CVD.
Indeed, belly fat is a key indicator of “metabolic syndrome,” a cluster of abnormalities that include high levels of blood sugar, blood pressure, and triglycerides, as well as low levels of “good”
HDL
cholesterol
. This combination of risks has an impact on mortality from heart disease.

High cholesterol
My labs just came in and my cholesterol is 6.92 and I'm alarmed to say the least. I turn 40 next month and lead a relatively healthy lifestyle by exercising four times a week, don't smoke, don't drink, eat a lot more poultry and egg whites than red meat and weigh 105kg. The doctor says I have a high

Repatha-PCSK9
So years of trying different medications to control my familial hypercholesteremia, and unable to tolerate any statins, or any natural sources helping my lipid levels, I have now been started on Repatha. I've now had 3 doses (injected fortnightly) and my lipid levels are now within 'normal range'. So
