Hydrocortisone for Asthma
Hi yesterday I was changed from taking 40mg prednisolone to 40mg hydrocortisone for my asthma because I have been diagnosed as having tertiary adrenal insufficiency which is where your hypothalamus is suppressed. Does anyone else take hydrocortisone for asthma or any brrathing conditions?

Hi all Yesterday I was changed from Prednisolone 40mg daily to Hydrocortisone 40mg daily taken over four doses. I have been diagnosed as Tertiary adrenal Insufficiency which means my hypothalamus is suppressed. I am nervous about the change. After all these years of being on prednisolone it feels odd

Dr Skinner and prednisolone
I have just been reading Dr Skinner's bk 'Diagnosis and Management of Hypothyroidism'. In dealing with low cortisol levels he prefers prednisolone over hydrocortisone as it 'covers the mineralocorticoid as well as the glucocorticoid functions' Has anyone had any expedience of using prednisolone for low

Back on 4mg pred,,,,
Since Thursday, I have been on 4mg Pred, after 3 months on Hydrocortisone, and refusing to continue with it. My Endo is not happy and my GP even less so. In a letter from the Endo, he says I may have to return to HC. When I saw my GP, Wed, he hadn't had the recent letter from the Endo, and I didn't take

Dr Henry Lindner's take on control of thyroid hormone treatment and effects on other hormones
Dr Henry Lindner has been discussing the complicated relation between thyroid hormones, cortisol and others and the difficulty in getting them all in balance. Hypothyroidism and all its effects are reversible with time--but it can take many months, even years. However, there is another, equally important

R.A. plus adrenal insufficiency on prednisolone
Hello everyone I have had r.a. since 1998 and after failing every DMARD and having serious reactions to biologics the only drug which controls the r.a. is prednisolone sadly. As I have used this continuously for 10 years I have developed adrenal insufficiency and steroid dependent. At first I could

Pred 12 years...Hydrocortisone 3 months...back to Pred.............
After 3 hellish months of Hydrocortisone, for Addison;s Disease, I have asked my Endocrinlogist to put me back on Pred, as I can no longer feel 'manic'. This is not brain fog. This is not knowing what you're doing anymore. Last week, I 'forgot' to order HC and a weekend coming up. Fortunately, after

Switching from Prednisone to Hydrocortisone
I was diagnosed with PMR on December 2015 and started on 20mg of Prednisone. I have side effects of raised ocular pressure, osteopaenia, cararacts and jaw bone loss due to 1 Aclasta infusion. I am presently on 5 mg prednisone and am experiencing symptoms relating to low cortisone levels. I had a synacthen

Ventolin
Unfortunately, I ended up in A&E again last night, had to have nebs, hydrocortisone and magnesium again. The doctor told me to use my ventolin every four hours last night and today, every six hours tomorrow and then every eight on Sunday. He said this would help to stop my asthma from flaring up again

Radiation side effects...how long?
My last radiation treatment for TNBC was on April 19. Today, September 14, I am still having itching on my chest. This is the second time it's looked like an allergic reaction welts. I found benadryl helps and the cream they gave me better than a hydrocortisone cream. So how long does this go on? On

A&E trips
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I've had two A&E trips this week with my asthma, the last one resulted in four nebulisers, hydrocortisone IV and magnesium IV. My chest still feels tight, I can't get rid of the ache in my ribs and the cocktail of medications has left me feeling 'spaced

T3, how much
I telephoned IDIS, 01932 824100, suppliers of off licensed pharmaceuticals this morning. Whilst they couldn't speak to me as a non pharmacist or doctor I can confirm that they do supply most high street chemists. My local Boots said they don't deal with IDIS and quoted me £387 for 30 tabs. I just laughed
