CAN ANAEMIA CONTRIBUTE TO BREATHLESSNESS IN SIGNIFICANT WAY?
Watching a wildlife programme a few days ago I saw a report that seals/sea lions can stay underwater up to 45 minutes due to the rich
haemoglobin
levels in their blood.

Iron Iron is part of
haemoglobin
, the oxygen-carrying component of the blood. Iron-deficient people get tired easily because their bodies are starved for oxygen. Iron is also part of myoglobin, which helps muscle cells store oxygen.

Does the cause of feeling ill matter?
My last blood results were bad
Haemoglobin
10 and Iron 3 so I am anaemic and waiting to be admitted for an iron infusion. I am also very stressed at the moment as my daughter is ill as well.

Giving a little back
I now know that visual disturbances, the bruising and my atopic heart beats were all down to my elevated platelets and
haemoglobin
and I have not had any symptoms since starting treatment. Well, what I really mean is that I have swapped them for different ones!

Does this ring bells with anyone else?
I feel depressed, but not really that lacking in energy (though I do get breathless - which I suppose is the
haemoglobin
).

Floridix - is it ok to take without having recent ferritin tests?
I haven't had ferritin tested for a while - I had
haemoglobin
etc checked in October and it was 13..8 (range 11.5 to 16.6) which I know is different from ferritin, Last time I had ferritin tested was October 2011 (so the previous year) and it was 85 (range 50-170).

Blood Test Update
Haemoglobin
slight out of range (high) dependent on which range you use. He has now reduced my Spiro to 200mg and taken me off Furosmide for the time being to see if I get any Ascites, daily weights and as he said eat for England (the right stuff of course).
