Prednisone and Blood Sugar Levels
I am wondering what other member’s experience has been with prednisone and increasing A1c levels? I had been very consistently in the normal range for long term blood sugar levels until I started the prednisone last August. Since the prednisone, my levels have gradually crept up into the pre-diabetic

Hi everyone. I'm Paul from Birmingham. I'm new to this group. Following recent bloods (I have RA) my Rheumatology nurse called me and advised that I was pre diabetic. Hashimotos Disease and Diabetes type 2
I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes type 2. I’m active, not overweight and eat a very healthy diet. I understand that a side effect of Levothyroxine could possibly be responsible for glucose resistance. Does anyone have any further information? 🦋

Metformin
My husband is nearly 86. He is on 12mg of Prednisolone. Now he has been diagnosed with a blood sugar level of 7.9. He has been prescribed Metformin, and is very frightened , because of the possible side effects. Can anyone tell me if it always happens please?

What's in a word?
Health care in the UK has seen a change in the last couple of years. Patients with one or more long term conditions are now asked about their experiences and how they would like to be treated. Carers are also consulted. Well done to all the organisations and Universities that go that extra mile, you

Multivitamins when it’s impractical/not possible to take several a day
I know multivitamins aren’t a good idea but I have an elderly friend who’s elderly sister is in hospital and hasn’t been eating well for four weeks. She’s sleeping all the time and her none-too-young children are exhausted from travelling miles three times a day to feed her I suggested asking her

Low AMH and Metformin (insulin resistance)
Hi all I know Metformin is often used in fertility for people who have PCOS, therefore with a high ovarian reserve. I have had an insulin resistance test recently which showed elevated levels, it has been suggested I take Metformin for it. I have low AMH though and am a little worried about whether

Carbs and PMR
I've seen a lot of posts stating the necessity of eliminating carbs from one's diet. Does this mean all carbs, or the simple ones? So many healthy foods are also carbs and make up the majority of my diet - fruits, veggies, whole grains. When I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes I made some dietary changes

Ambroxol
Would anyone share if you have participated in a clinical trial using the drug Ambroxol for PD? There have been several clinical trials which have published encouraging resusts, mostly in the UK. I am not formally in a trial but have been duplicating the dosage for about 12 months. My experience is favorable

Does anyone have any insight on how or if V +O treatment affects insulin sensitivity?
My husband is on V+O treatment, on cycle 7, he also is type 2 diabetic. Ever since starting treatment, he has had to add fast-acting insulin after meals to his regimen. We attributed this to the steroids given during O infusions, but those are now in the past, and he is not able to reduce his A1C and

Do natural supplements work to reduce high cholesterol?
While strictly not a PMR issue I know there are a few whose cholesterol has risen markedly since being diagnosed. I am one of them. I have always had high-ish cholesterol but my last fasting blood test showed everything else perfectly normal but my cholesterol was up. I haven't seen the results

Any tips on raising HDL please? Thanks
Hi Vegan for almost 30 years now, age 52. Latest bloods. Total cholesterol 2.6 (<5) LDL 1.6 (<4) HDL 0.9 (>1.0) Triglycerides 0.6 (<1.8) Non HDL 2.25 Cholesterol/HDL ratio 3.0 (<5) So, all markers are ok except for HDL. I’ve read that vegans tend to have low HDL. Any tips to raise this please
