This is because “CAG” gives the body instructions to make the amino acid
glutamine
. You can read more about what is polyglutamine expansion in our past Snapshot about that subject.

Flutamide, bicalutamide, nilutamide, apalutamide or enzalutamide?
According to the cancer.gov fact sheet for Hormone Therapy for Prostate Cancer, there are 5 types of CAB, Complete Androgen Blockade. I've been on bical. for about 20 months. However, against advice, I have not had radiation nor surgery. The combo I'm using is finasteride, tamsulosin and bicalutamide

Glutamine-blocking drug slows tumor growth and strengthens anti-tumor response
Glutamine
is an amino acid. Cells are dependent on
glutamine
in many different ways. Cancer cells in particular are highly dependent on
glutamine
. Without
glutamine
, cells would stop growing and eventually die.

Therapies Targeted to Androgen Receptor SignalingAxis in Prostate Cancer: Progress, Challenges, and Hope - published December 2019
I was doing some research on ARL702H, which the Guardiant360 revealed for my husband. I think ARL702H is brought on from being on Zytiga + prednisone. - and this may be why switching from predisone to dexamethasone can help the Zytiga to continue working: Role of Androgen Receptor in Prostate Cancer

A conundrum for use v. non-use of specific amino acids in muscle atrophy and immune support for CLL patients
There have been a number of articles, some anecdotal advocacy, but some in peer-reviewed journals that suggest that
glutamine
, methionine, and IGF-1 may promote the growth of cancerous and non-cancerous cells.

Flutamide"
New paper from Japan [1]. The antiandrogen flutamide was approved by the FDA for PCa thirty years ago. Bicalutamide had been approved by the FDA a few years earlier. The paper presents an anecdotal case of a man "in whom flutamide controlled disease progression for 10 years" "after bicalutamide failure

How I overcame IBS-D
There is a lot of support for L-
glutamine
to help with repair of your small-intestinal lining; this means buying 500g of the bodybuilder powder type and having a couple of tea-spoons of this a day - one before breakfast and one just before you go to bed, and you can have this in a light cordial drink

Some of our members have found
glutamine
supplements helpful, although there is no conclusive clinical trial evidence to support this at the moment. You can also ask your team whether it would be helpful to use cooling mittens and socks to cool your hands and feet during treatment.

glutamine
? Does anyone have a medication or supplement chart they use that could give a good indication of how and when to take supplements and medication related to adrenals and thyroid. Many thanks

New FND research on neuro chemicals...it’s not in our heads. There is a basis & future treatment hopefully to follow...
Nevertheless, the study "provides intriguing evidence for abnormally increased paralimbic glutamate/
glutamine
in patients with FMD, as measured by MRS," she said.

Glutathione
Hi just wondering if anyone has tried the supplement Glutathione (which apparently is different to
Glutamine
). And, if so, does it help with any aspect of RA at all? Thanks!
