Getting back to fitness following CABG
Triple bypass 9 weeks ago. Up until a few months before surgery and when I knew there was a problem, I was training everyday at the gym doing CrossFit etc. At the moment I am walking everyday 3-5 miles each day but am now itching to do more. My breathing is good when walking but not when going upstairs

AF after eating
Had a triple bypass last Monday. Surgery went well. And bounced in and out of CICU and HDU, deposited on the ward and left with my swirling thoughts. My recovery was going well. On the Wednesday night, I treated myself to some ice cream for a desert on the hospital menu. Two spoons in, I felt a weird

Why Do I pain in my left ribs?
I would like to thank the BHF Nurse that actually took the bother to call me after I emailed for help and advice, she was very empathetic and gave me good advice about keeping a record of my blood pressure’s and taking it in the morning when I get up after I’ve pottered about but before any medication

heart bypass
just wondering how long people’s heart bypasses have lasted? I had a double bypass twenty one years ago and a stent fitted three years ago, all seems well up to now.

Hi all, thought I might share my recent experience.I am a 58year old male, never smoked, always been active (lots of football) eat healthily and don't consider myself to have suffered from anxiety or stress. On 28th April I had a heart attack whilst playing 5 a side football. Wasn't sure it was a heart

Triple Bypass
Long story short, which I guess is similar to others. I’m being scheduled for a CABG. Triple bypass by the looks of things. Initially, a bit scared. Worried about my future. The standard gamut of emotions which are swirling around my mind. I guess I have a couple of questions. What’s the surgery

7 Week Review after CABG
7 weeks since I had the CABG x 4... went in for a review with my consultant. Soooo glad I had read up on here, and had the Cardio Rehab assessment beforehand, and had made notes of the questions a needed answers too. It was brutally efficient - [i]yep your op was a success, you can do anything, and

?Anxiety after CABG
Trying to find out if anybody else has gone through what is happening to my parent. They had CABG 5 weeks ago. The family think she is making a good recovery, we are encouraging her. She is 80. She is having problems where she states she is having breathing problems at night, whilst in bed and is becoming

After bypass Surgery
My husband had bypass surgery in November 2022. The process was successful but sadly they damaged his ulna nerve and he lost use of his right hand and has had severe nerve pain in the right arm. We are wondering how common nerve damage is following bypass surgery and whether other people have experienced

parathyroid blood test!
Hi all I had a yearly health assessment yesterday at my GPS (my first one ever!) I didn’t know I was having a blood test so took my thyroxine and Thorns B right! She’s testing my TSH and full blood panel! Anyway I told her I had a gastric band and she said I need PTH blood test due to lack of vitamin

Puzzling symptoms while exercising beyond 20 minutes!
Hi everyone, I am a 42 year old man, always very slim and active, non-smoker, hoping to get your opinions about some puzzling symptoms I have been experiencing while doing moderate exercise (jogging fairly leisurely on treadmill). These manifest as a kind of unsteady, mildly dizzy "need-to-stop" kind

CABG Scar By Zorro
Had a Cabg 18 wks ago and this left a sternum scar about five inches long.I think they use glue to close it rather than stitches and there was a dressing that stayed on for a few days. The scar was quite scary to begin with but i didn't give it much thought. Then as i got better and my thoughts turned

Yet another procedure!!
I had a double cabg on 18th January this year and now have to have my gallbladder removed!! This hasnt come as a surprise!! I've known about it for a while. I've to follow a special diet for 2 weeks before the op. Everything weighed and measured!! Doing it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm wondering

Insulin working differently after cabg
Hi I've had a cabg x4. Before surgery my diabetes was stable using both a slow release and a fast acting insulin. Since the operation the insulin is reacting more strongly to the same foods & I can't seem get a balance without dropping - and whichever medics I ask they have no knowledge of this. I
