On the mend - it’s funny how you seem to feel improvements exponentially each day but a few ups and downs - they’re planning to discharge me on Tuesday if the pace of recovery continues - just don’t want to rush it too much but all seems positive so far 😀

CABG Update
Hello
You seem to be doing very well and yes be prepared for the ups and downs as there will be some along the way but we get through them and I hope if they think you are well enough you will be home starting your recovery early this week
Let us know how you get on x
Sounds very positive, Kadu - just be sure that you feel ready to go home and if not, just let them know. I had my op on a Friday and was discharged home the following Tuesday too and was delighted to escape! They'll be happy to discharge you if you can tootle slowly up and down stairs and make your way round the house. I live alone, but my brother called in every morning and my sister most afternoons and brought in any little bits of shopping etc that I needed. A district nurse came to visit 10 days later, as I couldn't drive to the GP's, and removed any stitches and took a couple of blood samples to make sure all was well. You'll be instructed not to lift anything heavier than a half-full kettle of water for 12 weeks to give your sternum time to heal. You're getting there, just take it slow and steady - onwards and upwards. You'll probably have your best night's sleep once you get home and away from all the bleeping and distractions and nurses coming along to wake you up and take your blood pressure in the middle of the night! 🙂
Ahhh sounds like your on the mend already that's a start x ah all the best with recovery and you will be home soon hopefully on Tuesday ❤️😊🤗
Wishing you a steady recovery. Best wishes going forward.
Palm oil for the scars is brilliant. Make sure you get set up for a cardio rehab course as soon as it’s possible. Walk every day, deep breathing exercises each morning and afternoon. Try and get off the heavy painkillers asap as they mess your bowels up. Drink lots and lots of water. Finally, embrace this as a journey, believe it or not it is a great one ! Best of luck.
There you are, fantastic to hear it is all over and done with for you. Wow, talking about being discharged already. I am so happy for you. How many Arteries did they replace?
Thanks MumaLines - I had a triple bypass at The Royal Brompton and feel relatively ok considering - no pain or other issues but I do need to get walking - I’ll go for a stroll a bit later - it’s amazing what they can do and how well it can be recovered from - but there are bound to be off days so I’m fully prepared for those - little by little and hopefully I’ll hit the ground in 2024 running (literally) 😀
