Growth inhibitory effect of doxazosin on prostate and bladder cancer cells. Is the serotonin receptor pathway involved?
Doxazosin
, an alpha1-adrenoceptor antagonist, is used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and hypertension. Alpha-adrenoceptor antagonists also inhibit growth and induce apoptosis in malignant prostatic cells. The apoptotic activity is independent of their capacity to antagonize

RA pain v proximal humerus 4 fractures pain
Three weeks ago I fell and smashed the head of my humerus - 4 separate breaks, one clean through at base of head. Blooming nuisance. The weird thing is that people keep telling me it’s a very painful injury. Well, yes it has been painful, more achy really after the first few days, but RA pain is worse

For those who have fractured, drugs and supplements
have just received results of a scan to find that I have another two
fractures
(total 5 or maybe 6) which is a worry. I am not on any medication as most are going to be a problem with my health problems.

Information on calcium supplements please.
Hi, Two more recent spinal
fractures
bringing it to a total of nine has raised quite a few more questions. I have always been told I do not need a calcium supplement because my levels are very good.

Stopping cyproterone acetate.
Hi Gentlemen, just a question..... I have had orchedectomy and been taking cyproterone for 4 years or so. I understand it stops adrenal gland production of potential testosterone. I have been in remission since the nuts left....is it safe to stop using the drug. I stopped a couple of months ago and the

Prolia: Biggest Mistake I Ever Made!!!!
I wish I had never gone near this drug! It definitely interfered with getting needed dental work done! (And its medical mismanagement left me with a bunch of vertebral fracture leaving me permanently in pain and disabled!)

Even if you increase your bone density, you still have osteoporosis
Ongoing monitoring and strategic interventions will be necessary if
fractures
are to be avoided.

Compression fracture?
Anyone know about compression
fractures
? I fell a couple of times in December, and the second fall was pretty bad. My back and left leg haven't been the same since, and I've been noticing how I tend to stoop over now more than ever.

Thoracic fractures and osteoarthritis
I suffer from thoracic
fractures
and osteoarthritis in my back realising in chronic pain. I am prescribed lidocaine patches plus dihydrocodeine.... which I use sparingly. But I would love to go for a walk and enjoy pain free. Also every bra I buy becomes uncomfortable very quickly.

A 5 yr warrior growing weary
Despite bone pain and occasional
fractures
(all horrible experiences for him) it’s kept the cancer at bay. Three weeks ago, he went in for a valve replacement . He ended up getting Covid in the hospital.

Some Questions
Hello all. My husband (GL 9, PSA 77, 3-4 bone mets-diagnosed 8/19 - Casodex, Eligard, Zytiga/prednisone, plus radiation) had a CT and bone scan yesterday. Nothing of consequence on the CT. Bone scan showed “Focus of minimally increased uptake in T7 decreased conspicuity. No other significant interval

Need Shoulder Replacement Surgery
My shoulder is destroyed from osteo arthritis and is painful 24/7. My surgeon won’t operate until I am “low enough” on prednisone. How low is low enough? I have been on prednisone for 17 months for PMR now down to 12.5 mg and tapering. I flared at 10.5 last taper. Advice?
