Oh good grief, my lungs!
For those of you who know about these things, my pre-run peak-flow measurement was 430, which is normal for me. I went out and ran 43 minutes and covered 3 miles. There were a few stops in there, but I didn't count those in the time or distance. It was the longest time and the furthest that I've

brittle asthmatic?
hi, my son (now 7) has been moved from clenil to seretide as asthma nurse said he is a brittle asthmatic. 90% of the time he has a major cough and can go from controlled to not as quick as a light switch being turned on/off. at the moment everything is under control (yay!!!), he's on seretide, ventolin

Peak flow ok but still bad?
Is peak flow the only indicator of asthma severity? Wife is in hospital at the moment. Apparently, peak flow is OK but she's been ill for several months now. Consultant is completely useless and says its virus or recovery from asthma attack.... Hospital already done chest x-ray and just done CT to

Just wrote a huge post and it disappeared. Grrr! Anyway my eldest is almost 6. He has cough variant asthma and has used clenil and ventolin since he was 18 months. These work well and the huge majority of the time he's controlled. Apart from two, sometimes three, times a year (usually when the seasons

Did your health deteriarate all at once?
I was diagnosed with COPD about 5 years ago. I've been on the usual various medications over the years but managed to keep working doing medium/heavy manual work including snow shifting on the shovel until last winter when I really struggled. My health and ability to do strenuous work seemed to deteriorate

Preventer inhaler and peak flow meter
Hi again guys My nurse just prescribed me a preventer inhaler to use as well as a peak flow meter. I know how to use both of them but I was wondering if it mattered whether you take your preventer inhaler before/after doing your peak flow or does it not matter? (I completely forgot to ask the lovely

struggling at the moment and fed up!
Am definitely needing a bit of sympathy at the moment. I am on my 4th attack needing steroids since the beginning of January and feeling rubbish. I had one about 10 days ago and only just managed to avoid going to A&E. My peak flow went down to 180 (cut off point on my plan is 170 - personal best

aching, badly.
I'm not sure where to post this, sorry. I've been diagnosed severely asthmatic by my cons and I'm having a difficult time at the moment. around 3 weeks ago, I picked up the flu, I don't get the jab as its the only the second time I've ever had it in 19 years. the first time I had it, I was really unwell

Clenil modulite makes me cough
Hi Sorry if this question has been asked and answered before, but since clenil is often used to treat cough an internet serach for this is not very easy! I'm in the process of being diagnosed with asthma. I've been prescribed clenil, which I've been taking for the past 5 days. It seems to be helping

asthma cough
Just wanted a few peoples opinions on this really after having a discussion with a friend. How does everyones asthma cough present and how does it differ from a normal cough? Aside from when I have a chest infection, when I have an asthma related cough, it is generally a dry cough which tickles inside

A definitive answer
There is constant mention of peak flow in COPD diagnosis or treatment can we have a definitive answer as my respiratory nurse tells me they are for Asthma only.

Breathless and tight-chested all the time- but told it wasn't my asthma!
Hey, I'm seventeen, and I was diagnosed with asthma nearly ten years ago- so I've been living with it for half my lifetime. My asthma's been acting up badly recently, and I'm almost constantly breathless, feel like there's a weight on my chest, and sometimes get really bad pain. As a result, I can no

low peak flow -lung reversibility?
Hello, My peak flow has been decreasing over the years and sadly for the past year it has not gone over 260 mark. My personal best is (or was?) 450, but if I have not achieved it for well over 18 months is it fair to say that my lungs are deteriorating? in a way it feels quite depressing. thanks.

Lung Trainer
I have recently purchased a Powerbreathe Wellness that I hope will improve my breathing muscles training them for improved breathing with a reduction in respiratory muscle fatigue. It is still on the lowest settings which makes any judgement of improvement in how my Asthma is being controlled a difficult
