low peak flow -lung reversibility?

Hello,

My peak flow has been decreasing over the years and sadly for the past year it has not gone over 260 mark. My personal best is (or was?) 450, but if I have not achieved it for well over 18 months is it fair to say that my lungs are deteriorating? in a way it feels quite depressing.

thanks.

Thank you for your reply Stray.

sounds, like i have beaten what the literature says, lol! i've been under rbh for few years now and probably on max treatment - ventolin, serotide, montelukast and (sadly) no less than 20-25mg of pred, plus nebs as and when needed. yet, things seem to be somehow going down the hill. thank you for pointing out the potential issues with thyroid or autoimmune problems - i will try and get that checked.

Hi Stray,

hm, i'm afraid that rbh did not give me much advice in this respect (but I have started pressing them on this and they mentioned another full lung function test to assess how much damage there is). The only thing that i get from my CNS recently is try to up the steroids, if things get dramatically worse - go to a&e (which I'm trying to keep as much away from me as possible, especially that my local a&e is very bad), or if not so dramatically bad -then they are bringing my appointment forward. When I see my consultant next time, I will defo mention the Alpha 1 - antitrypsin deficiency test, as I have never been tested for this. Thank you for good words :-)
