Should I have been tested for PA before starting loading doses?
Hi everyone, I'm currently on my loading doses and have a sneaking worry that my treatment/investigatons into PA aren't as efficient as I'd previously thought - I'd appreciate some advice as I sometimes find the clinical information online very complicated/contradicting. Firstly they will only give me

The difference between intrinsic factor antibody test and MMA
Hi all and thanks in advance for any help. I have long suspected I have a B12 problem even though my active B12 blood tests are showing ok. I understand that there are conditions that mask the deficiency and stop the B12 actually being absorbed (if I understand rightly). I have the autoimmune condition

Testing please
Hi, I’m still waiting on the intrinsic factor and pareital tests. I have a feeling they will be normal since 50% false negative. What tests does one then do if that happens? I know b12 is causing psychosis because it happened right when went vegan as well as other symptoms like headaches, hair loss,

Plasma viscosity?
Dear forum members After a month of suffering unpleasant flare up symptoms my GP eventually ordered blood tests for C Reactive protein, plasma viscosity, ANA, ANCA and rheumatoid factor. I looked up the results on my patient record and saw that plasma viscosity was normal and no further action required

I need help please. I have heart palpitations, headaches, hair loss and psychosis at same time. Doctor found severe anemia and thinks it is pernicious. She wants to do labcorp test for pernicious but they rule out if b12 normal. But you can still have pernicious with normal b12. Please what test is helpful

Anyone know about Globulin levels
Anyone had experience of “low globulin” count when having a blood test? Had my monthly Methotrexate blood test last Tuesday, the GP rang me Wednesday afternoon to say my globulin count was a bit low & with my “Rheumatoid factor”. Of course he didn’t explain what it was & when I asked what needed to be

Wait for appointment
My husband started with pain and swelling in his hands, awful fatigue and nausea about 2 months ago. GP did bloods and x ray, said no rheumatoid factor or inflammatory markers but referred him to rheumatology as an urgent referral as it’s having such an impact on his life and work. IFab or MMA
Hello I am trying to investigate low active b12 results (at the low end of the reference range). Am I better to organise a private iFab test or an MMA test? Medichecks suggested MMA but is iFab better? My mum didn’t get diagnosed with PA with low intrinsic factor until she was very severely disabled

Is Inflammatory Arthritis RA?
Stupid question, been diagnosed for six years since 20 but it’s always been written as: Seronegative inflammatory arthritis. It was once written as RA and once as Oligoarthritis. Is there any difference. I am negative rheumatoid factor, anti-CCP and HLA B27. Three years ago my DSA28 score equates to

Hello, I had pernicious anemia about two years ago and it was corrected with injections. Intrinsic factor test was negative. However, with the time I needed injections again. I read in the internet that pernicious anemia is caused by autoimmune gastritis and that this gastritis may lead to cancer. I

Repeating intrinsic factor antibody blood test
Hello Does anybody have any references to show a consultant that wants to repeat an ifab blood test? I have gastric parietal cells and am ifab positive with reading of 8 (range 0-5). He says I'm only weekly positive for ifab so wants to repeat the test. I had one down in June that was negative, then
