Introduction from a newbie
Hi, thought it was about time to introduce myself. I’m a 62 year old male, I consider myself to be fit and healthy, having said that I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in 2003. I was fortunate enough to control it by diet initially but it wasn’t long before I needed medication. I currently take Metformin

Metformin & the Epithelial–Mesenchymal transition [EMT]
New study below [1]. The title of this post may have put some off from reading, but the Epithelial–Mesenchymal transition [EMT] concept is fairly easy to grasp. PCa develops in prostatic epithelial cells. These cells are mot particularly mobile. A key event in metastasis is the transformation of the

Non-PCa Prescription Drugs: Statins - Lipophilic or Hydrophilic?
Statins are sometimes described as being either lipophilic (hydrophobic) or hydrophilic (lipophobic) as though that were a binary condition. While Pravastatin is extremely hydrophilic, fluvastatin is an example of a statin occupying an intermetiate position. Hydrophilic statins: Pravastatin & Rosuvastatin

Non-PCa Prescription Drugs: Statins
[1] Statins are arguably the easiest prescription drug to get hold of in the U.S. IMO they are heavily over-prescribed, based on a simplistic out-of-date view of cholesterol & its role in CVD. On the other hand, as someone with PCa, I'm a big fan of statins. I have mentioned before that: i) cholesterol

Statin concerns
I'm new here. Having pain in legs and knees at night. Weakness and find it hard to get up after sitting at desk for awhile. I take simvastatin and am concerned it could be causing my problem. I am female in my early 60's.

Struggling to keep blood pressure down.
I have had blood pressure problems for years but usually the levels are worse when tested by the nurse at my diabetic 6 monthly check. However, even my checks at home are now showing high sometimes. It's ok after a walk but high in the morning and evening. Does anyone else have a different reading in

Brain fog, anxiety, confusion and memory loss.
Brain fog, anxiety and memory loss. My mother has been suffering these symptoms for the last 2 years. The symptoms are getting worse and I don't know where to get help. She has had ct and mri scan which both came up clear, dr thought she may have dementia. Dr now think it's depression and gave her

Fenofibrate
Hi everyone, Some of you may remember I was asking last year if anyone had been prescribed fenofibrate to manage their PBC. At the time after about 18 months of appearing to respond to urso, my liver function tests became quite elevated over a short period of time. After several repeats of blood tests
