Checking medication

Their doctor put them on Perindopril for high blood pressure, Amiodipine- a calcium channel blocker, and Fenofibrate for high cholesterol. Fenofibrates
Someone asked if Dr. Jones' book mentioned the use of fenofibrates.... yes, it does in several places. This might be a good book to have if you are considering using them. He is the leading expert on PBC. Hope it helps... The subject is discussed in the chapter for 'Treatment of PBC'. Many have been

Hi everyone, I have a question for Sue and Jools as just left Doctors and wanted to check if the meds she's given me will be OK to take with RLS. I have had no choice but to go back on some tablets nd increase one, but have told her I did not want Statins again, she has given me Fenofibrate 200mg daily

Guys. i just had a fibroscan based on my elevated liver enzymes (less than double of top range) Fibroscan results: 143 CAP score, 75 kPa reading, 6.3 IQR/med Interpretation: CAP value is consistent with no steatosis, S0 Fibroscan demonstrated kPa consistent with Metavir of F4, suggesting cirrhosis

How effective is fenofibrate for itch?
My doctor suggested a few different drugs, like rifampricin, naltrexone, and fenofibrate for my itch. He prescribed fenofibrate as he thinks it works best. Does anyone here take it and if so, has it helped? I'm worried about the warnings it comes with about severe liver damage.

Edoxaban and dreams and nightmares ...... Part 2
Been figuring the best way to write my thanks to you all for your comments on Part 1, so, tryin’ this. Whilst I have been reading your comments I have also been reading ‘The paper in the packet’ for each of the drugs that I originally referred to. It does seem as though each of these three DOAC's side

Becoming a grumpy old git !
Hi all, Just an enquiry .... one of my rare ones. It concerns a possible side effect of medication. In the last 6 months or so I have changed three precribed medication. I list these as below ....
Simvastatin
was started in mid 2007 and taken continuously until, my Surgery Pharmacist asked

Going through the medicine routine this morning I found myself making up a song - If you want to sing along it’s to the tune of “Little boxes” 🎶 Little tablets in the pill box Little tablets getting hard to swallow Little tablets, five compartments Little tablets every day Little tablets in

Edoxoban Update
I recently posted that my Cardiologist had put me on Edoxoban 30mg daily, instead of Aspirin which I had been taking for years. He said the Edoxoban was both safer, and unlike Aspirin would prevent the risk of stroke. A day after starting Edoxoban, I either came down with a cold, or allergy symptoms

Statins! Oh the pain
Hi I have been on statins since having my HA in late August in Turkey on holiday. I was put on Turkish drugs and apart from fatigue I was fine on these. I have since been on Atorvstatin 80mg but I have suffered really badly with aching legs and arms. I spoke to GP and they changed me to a lower dose

Zanubrutinib and hair loss?
Hello and Happy Holidays to all! After almost 5 years post captivate trial, I will likely start Zanubrutinib in February or March. My specialist suggested taking Simvastatin in combination with Celebrex experimentally for a couple of months to see if my numbers remain stable. If not, then I will begin

Pcsk9
I have chronic renal failure stage 3 , have had aerotic valve surgery, also fairly high ldl cholesterol, prediabetes because of simvastatin, nhs will not authorize pcsk9 inhibitors for me , it seems that the nhs would prefer you to become diabetic than give better drugs without side effects

Simvastatin v Atorvastatin
Just had a conversation with my Surgery employed Pharmacist. she asked me if I would object to switching from Simvastatin to Atorvastatin as the Simvastatin was rather an old drug. I was put on it around 2007. I told her to go ahead ... no problems. The following quote is what I found during an ultra

Statins
I am in my 70s and discovered to have heart issues at a pre opp assessment for a bowel op. Cardiologist put me on Ramipril, Bisoprolol and a Statin prior to having an MRI and CT Scan. It appears I have a mild systolic murmur and an artery less that 50% blocked. Aspirin now added to medication.I am finding

Statins may increase the risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
New Italian study [1] - which will be misunderstood, imo. The authors seem to have expected statin use to lower the risk of PCa: "... their anti-inflammatory features {statins} could play a role in preventing tumorigenesis." Instead: "Tumor incidence was higher among men taking statins, compared
