CRP and ESR within normal limits - increasing symptoms - previous PMR
I am almost 67 and female. About 5 years ago I was diagnosed with PMR - with raised CRP and ESR. I was treated with steroids for a year and the symptoms settled. I do suffer from chronic depression.. I have had both hips replaced for osteoarthritis. About six months ago I started getting pain

Statin induced Fibromyalgia!!???
Hi All, I've just been surfing the net and come across an article about stain induced fibromyalgia! I knew statins caused muscle pain but as I had been on Amitriptyline for 4 years before being put on Simvastatin I didn't think THEY were making my pain any worse. Seems like perhaps they were because

Simvastatin 20 mg prescribed today ?
After reading about statins, I am reluctant to start taking my first pill today, my father has high cholesterol and his specialist asked that his children's be tested. My results are 6.1 with 1.8 good and my GP recommends commencing statins, I was in agreement this morning bit after reading I am now

What do I need to do to get diagnosed-UPDATED
I am new to this site and I am desperate to find some answers. I am almost 42 years old and am female. I am 'borderline' hypothyroid according to my GP. I have type 2 diabetes, which is not very well controlled despite me taking an injection of 1.2 of Victoza every morning. I eat a healthy diabetic

How do you know if your dose of Levo is right - I'm on 50mg 4 week trial extended to 8 weeks as I feel no better - Doctor treating symptoms
Hi my annual blood tests recently flagged up the possibility of my having underactive thyroid - I was pleased that something came back wonky as for the past 5/6 months I have put on over a stone felt ghastly but had no one thing to pin point and so put off going to Gp as I felt a bit like a hyperchondriac

My first statin.
Hello, I'm new to all this and still taking it all in. Last year I'd had a few symptoms I was sure that were due to stress, I was unhappy at work, being a single parent and juggling a 40hr a week job was wearing me down and my family had suffered a loss in the form of my uncle who had a stroke and

Simvastatin warning
I have received a letter today from my GP informing me that the MHRA have issued a statement cautioning the use of simvastatin with Amlodipine as it has a likelihood of side effects particularly in the form of aching muscles and I thought my muscles where aching from getting out of the armchair

Hypothyroid, Cardiac syndrome x and low ferritin
I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid TSH 20.9 (0.3-5.5) Serum Free T4 7.9 (11.5-22.7) 8 months ago by a new GP who said my thyroid would have been underactive for 'some time'. About 18 months before this I began to have 'angina' like pain. I experience a crushing feeling in my chest and deadness

Simvastatin and Tildiem
What's this all about? Received a memo from my GP stating that mixing Simvastatin and Tildiem can cause muscle aches and pains and they're switching me to Atorvastatin!! How many times have I told them that it was Atorvastatin that caused my muscle weakness?? I know having Fibro doesn't help but do

Are you on STATINS too?
A few months ago my GP urged me to start taking statins to help keep my Cholsterol low. As soon as I started I found that the daily dose of Warfarin needed to keep me near to an INR of 3.5 fell from 9mg to 8mg. A week or so ago, due to a medical scare, the doctors asked me to increase my Statin daily

Statins
I have just read a very interesting article due to be published in Wednesday's Daily Mail about statins and sleep. It appears the statin Simvastatin has been linked with causing both sleep disturbance and weight gain. I am on this statin and suffer from both these things. I would be interested in hearing

Have been told to take Stanol by consultant, not having much luck finding it. Anyone heard of it?
First lipid consultation yesterday has left me reeling! All too much too fast and would appreciate some perspective if anyone has any advice to offer. LDL 5.2, overall 7.3. Had to stop simvastatin, have a genetic muscle problem. Consultant changed blood pressure tablets, told me to stop eating practically
