Simvastatin Hell
Hi, In February 2011 I had a heart attack and was prescribed 40mg of Simvastatin. Within weeks I began to have pain in my arm muscles. I started researching, read of the many people suffering side effects, went to see my doctor and stopped them. She did not, oddly enough, try to persuade me against

Simvastatin 40mg and Amlodipine 5mg
Hi everyone. I started this combination a week or so ago. I have subsequently read that this combination and dosage should not be prescribed. I've had some bowel problems, mainly excessive gas and an uncomfortable feeling of being bloated in lower abdomen, plus some nausea. I'm going back to my doctor

Statins
I am totally confused. I had a stent put in a blocked coronary artery one year ago. Couldn't take Simvastatin at first but when I tried with small doses over time, the side effects went away. I take Uniquinol to counter the effects of the statin. My LDL is now back to normal and I just ran my first 5k

Metformin & Simvastatin
New Finnish cell study [1] below. I have used Metformin & Simvastatin for quite some time - perhaps on flimsy evidence, at the beginning. The problem with most of the Metformin-PCa studies is that they involve only diabetics. However the 2014 Swiss study [2] that convinced Dr. Myers to recommend it,

Pitavastatin [Livalo]
New Dr Myers vblog post on Livalo [1] below. It is something of a sales pitch. When I asked my doctor for Simvastatin, based on sketchy evidence that it might be the best statin for PCa, Pitavastatin [Livalo] had not yet been approved by the FDA (2009). Until Dr Myers post, I had never heard of Livalo

Doing well on Inegy
Have been on statins for some years and more recently on the dual medication Inegy, which is 10mg ezetimibe & 20mg simvastatin, and am doing well on this and controlling the cholesterol level. Of course I still watch the fats & sugars, and have become fitter with running, thanks to the c25k programme

Chest Pain
I saw mY GP yesterday, he advised me my Chol. Level was 5.8, recommended Simvastatin, I took just one last night. This morning I woke with a tight chest and deep breaths were painful, called GP and was asked to go in for a ECG. Turned out OK, but how long for pain to disappear? I was in agony on

Statin could boost treatments for people with Parkinson’s disease – Oxford

Cholesterol, RO 48-8071 & PCa
RO 48-8071 is getting some attention at the moment [1]. Hard to know if it is worth the fuss. RO 48-8071 is described as: "a compound initially developed as a cholesterol-fighting molecule". The compound reduces PCa cell growth in dish & mouse. "The study, “Cholesterol biosynthesis inhibitor RO 48

Statins & PCa Mortality
New meta-analysis below. About 11 years ago my doctor offered me a statin for my "high" cholesterol, which had just risen a little above 200. I refused. I felt that the case against cholesterol was simplistic & that a complex subject had been reduced to one villain - LDL cholesterol. On Monday, I was

Connection between Candesartan, Testosterone and Vitamini D
I suspect I am losing the plot here, but, I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and low testosterone levels. Last year I was on Ramipril 10mg, Simvastatin and Testim gel. At the end of last year my Doctor wasn't happy with my BP so changed me to Candesartan 8mg, Rusovastatin and still the Testim

Repositioning "old" drugs for new causes: identifying new inhibitors of PCa cell migration and invasion.
New Australian study below. "Following the completion of the primary screening assay, 33 drugs were identified from an FDA approved drug library that either inhibited migration or were cytotoxic to the PC-3 cells. Based on the data obtained from the subsequent validation studies, mitoxantrone hydrochloride

Promising response to fenofibrate
Some of you may remember a couple of months ago I was asking if anyone had tried fenofibrate to treat PBC. Only a small number of people here had been prescribed it. After a sudden increase in all of my liver enzymes last year and exclusion of AIH by biopsy my specialist felt my response to Urso was

Simvastatin - pros/cons?
Up until a year ago I took Simvastatin each day...When my husband's mother was mistakenly prescribed double the dosage she should have had...and lost her ability to walk and lost her ability to communicate and comprehend. I was devastating, After 8 months she is doing much better...glad we didn't lose

Blood test results, I have lots of symptoms of hypothyroidism, but doctor says within range!

Medication side effect?
I have developed a horrible taste in mouth and can smell a horrid smell. It isn't a dental problem as I've only just been given a clean bill of dental health. I'm wondering if it be down to medication. I'm on flecanide bisoprolol simvastatin calcium tablets alandronic acid and I use a modest amount of
