Ferrous Sulfate
So I finally got my blood results. Dr hadn’t added transferrin saturation to the test but I managed to get the nurse to add it when I went in for the bloods. Ferritin 91 Transferrin saturation 19.9 Now on 400mg of iron daily & a referral to movement clinic. Are there likely to be options to help me get

Exposed 2 year old
My son recently had exposure to someone with active TB...we are waiting for blood test results and chest X-ray results for him and myself. However they have already started him on antibiotics for the next 10 weeks...is this typical? Anyone else have experience with this prior to diagnosis. Nothing for

20 years old seeking advice on process of being diagnosed with RA
I'm 20 years old and currently in the process of being diagnosed with RA. It's been a distressing journey for me, the past year I have suffered from chronic back pain. I've seen many different medical professionals who have been unable to explain the cause. In the past few months I have started to suffer

Can you overdose on B12?
I wonder if you can help - my daughter is 17 and posted for the first time recently. I’m writing on her behalf as I’m her mum. She went to have her monthly b12 jab this afternoon (I wasn’t with her) and the nurse refused to do it as said her level was too high (now 1242). He checked with a gp and was

Any connection with B12 deficiency and Bladder issues?
This forum seems such a helpful community, I have finally plucked up courage to post. I have some questions which I would be really grateful if someone might be able to help me with. My (22 year old) son was informed he had B12 deficiency around a year ago. He had been suffering with anxiety and fatigue

Dangers of b12
I read this on web MD - is it correct? Vitamin B12 is LIKELY SAFE for most people when taken by mouth, applied to the skin, taken through the nose, administered as a shot, or injected into the vein (by IV). Vitamin B12 is considered safe, even in large doses. Mild itching has been reported in one person

ER once again
I was having chest pain all day yesterday accompanied with nausea and just the overall “not well” feeling. Finally by night it overcame me and I freaked out and went to the ER and had chest X-ray ekg and bloodwork yet again, and nothing was found. This time I didn’t find comfort in knowing nothing was

Difficult to swallow and pressure
Hi there I’m 17 years old and after going to my GP with suspected iron deficiency, my b12 levels came back as very low at 92. After pre loading doses and monthly injections since October my levels are now at 1434! Intrinsic Factor came back as normal and no further action required- Paediatrician has

Anyone on Gazyva and Venetaklax combo?
My husband got off Imbruvica to switch to Gazyva and Venetaklax combo as Imbruv stopped working and he got anemia as hemoglobin was very low 7.1. Then he had to get 2 blood transfusions within 10 days and hemog is now a 9. Has anyone experienced low neutriphils, platelts, and hemoglobin while on Gazyva

Too much iron causing hypo symptoms?
I've realized that, anytime I happen to eat red meat or take an iron supplement, I rapidly start feeling cold, lethargic and in a depressive mood (exactly how I feel when I am hypo) that lasts for a couple days. It seems like the extra iron interferes someway with my hormones. I take my levo in the morning

6week post PM op.. infection concerns.
Had pacemaker fitted 6 week ago, scar still not heeled. Noticed weeping over the weekend, popped into cardiology to let them have a look and have been kept in for infection concerns. They can see stitching under the scab. IV flucloxcillin, chest x-ray, ultrasound, bloods and swabs on the go. Anyone gone

Hello, delurking, & thanks
Well, I've lurked here on this great forum long enough. Here's my long saga. Feel free to skim! I joined early summer 2018 soon after a June morning when I woke up, Googled "stiff fingers upon waking," and knew, somehow, that I had RA. My GP ran rheumatoid factor and anti-CCP tests along with CRP/SED

Goodbye Xeloda, Hello Taxol or Abraxane
Well, I got almost 7 months out of Xeloda, with blessedly few side effects. But my last CT scan showed that liver mets have increased, a lot, so it's time to move on. I would love to hear of your experiences with Taxol or Abraxane. I think I'm most worried about the solvent Cremophor that is needed

4 year old’s ECG Results
My 4 year old had an ECG last week along with a chest X-ray. The surgery phoned today to say that the X-ray was clear however the dr would like you to come in this week to discuss his ECG results and talk if a plan going forward. My son doesn’t need to attend the appointment and the receptionist said

Iron specific anemia symptoms
I recently had my b12 loading doses and my understanding is that an iron test can test falsely high, or rather iron levels can suddenly become depleted after a b12 deficiency is rectified. I am developing what looks like bruising around my eyes without having any accidents recently which would account

Anyone else seem to have some sort of “triggered” intrinsic factor blocking antibody?
I’m 21 years old, an athlete and up until a couple months ago completely healthy. Then I got mono and 12 weeks later the fatigue had not gone away and the dr found I had a b12 deficiency (135 pg/mL). She then gave me a double dose of B12 shot and then I got blood drawn for an IFBA test. It came back
