Too much iron causing hypo symptoms?

I've realized that, anytime I happen to eat red meat or take an iron supplement, I rapidly start feeling cold, lethargic and in a depressive mood (exactly how I feel when I am hypo) that lasts for a couple days. It seems like the extra iron interferes someway with my hormones. I take my levo in the morning and meat/supplement in the evening so it is not an absorption issue. My serum iron is slightly elevated (172 ug/dl) and ferritin normal (206 ug/l).

Does anyone experience the same or has an idea about the reason behind?

I am going try donating blood to see what effect it has on me.

Why are you taking supplements if your levels are not low?

I took it a few times just to confirm that it was actually the iron to cause the issue, and not something else
