Eyedrops

I have been on dexa free eyedrops since a presseflo operation in May 2024. I am told it’s because of inflammation. Have other people been on steroid eyedrops for a long time? I am reluctant to consider surgery in the other eye while I am still on dexafree.

I contacted my eye doctor and was asked to stop taking the eyedrops for 2 weeks and come back to discuss if symptoms go away. I am very nervous to do this as my understanding is taking these eyedrops are detrimental.

But even if it is not mentioned, we always recommend you do this with any prescribed glaucoma eyedrops. It will help to stop side effects and is simple to do. Make sure your hands have been washed.

Have found some studies where 1g of paracetamol taken every six hours can lower pressure to a comparable rate of some eyedrops????

I was diagnosed with glaucoma last year and was originally prescribed latanaprost eyedrops. At my last appointment which was with the consultant, I was informed that these were not working and he gave me some brinzolamide followed up with a prescription for dorzolamde.

hello I have been using Ilube eye drops for years. ( Acetylcysteine 5% )I have recently discovered it contains preservative benzalkonium chloride which is toxic to the eye. Is this a reason to stop using it or is the preservative not in large amounts? Many thanks

In June 2024 I noticed my eyes were red and dry, I tried different over-the counter eyedrops recommended by my eye consultant, none have cleared it up .She did a map scan on my eyes and said they they are very healthy, my tear ducts may need to be replaced or keep using eyedrops regularly.

His instruction was to stop all eyedrops. I was not aware that the Maxidex was keeping my eye from healing. There seems to be a dearth of information given to the patient.

I saw an ophthalmologist last week who prescribed ointments and eyedrops but there is no improvement. I am wondering if: a) The armour dosage is not yet at the right strength, I am due for lab tests in 2-3 weeks.

When you are prescribed new eyedrops, or in fact any type of prescribed medication, it is always a good idea to read the patient information leaflet for side effects, which is normally section 5.

I have been using 3 lots of eyedrops twice a day for 23 years i struggling hugely at first and had to have help. I improved over time and can now put them in anywhere!!Don't worry, you'll get there.

Just been diagnosed with glaucoma but I just cannot put eye drops in,husband is putting them in for me but I need to try to put them in myself but I get so anxious.

Last week I had a stye come up on my left eye, I wasn’t sure whether to take my prescribed glaucoma eyedrops, Monopost, (I read conflicting advice), so I contacted my glaucoma consultant.

What is the point of this cheaply made unenvironmental product which is delivering eyedrops in such a hit or miss way such as to jeopardise peoples eyesight??? Should I take this up with my dispensing pharmacist this time, on the grounds of unuseableness or address my concerns to my consultant?

My eye pressure returned to normal levels in June and i was told that if there was no deterioration at the next check, I could come off the two eyedrops (Dorzolamide, Latanoprost). However, at my check in Jan this year, though the eye pressure was normal there was deterioration in the glaucoma.

Hi everyone I thought you might like to hear about this fall back if you are stuck somewhere without your eyedrops. I left home on Friday for a 5 day stay with my mother in law 200 miles from home. I found I had forgotten my eye drops.
