hello I have been using Ilube eye drops for years. ( Acetylcysteine 5% )I have recently discovered it contains preservative benzalkonium chloride which is toxic to the eye. Is this a reason to stop using it or is the preservative not in large amounts? Many thanks

Hi, Im not sure of the answer to your question. I would think theres not enough in there to cause a problem. you could ask either the optician/pharmacist/ GP?

i was originally given eyedrops with preservative but found they irritated my eyes, this was given by optician, it was the GP who told me that i was to get eyedrops with no preservative as it was the ingredient that was causing the problem. I switched to hycosan and not had a problem since. there are many different ones on the market,

I always wash my face after using single use sterile drops as residual left on eyelashes irritates my eyes.
